Have a saddle I want to advertise, how do you measure the size of the seat and what is the best way to work out the horse fitting, i.e. narrow or medium. Is it best just to measure from D ring to D ring as I have seen people put that in adverts. Complete numpty question but am struggling with this. Thanks.

I measure the seat size from the nail head at the front to the middle of the seat at the back. It is kind of a diagnal line. THis is supposed to be the correct way.
As for the width, if it isnt stamped somewhere (on one of the flaps?? or engraved on the stirrup bar??) then I would measure from d to d and say what 'type' of horse it was used on. Dont commit yourself to saying it is a narrow or anything if you dont know, give the measurements and let people make their own mind up.

Hope this helps. This is my first post on the new forum!!!

If there are two D-rings on both sides of the saddle which pair should be measured?

As I understand it only one pair is connected to the tree, which one would this generally be. The one in front or back.
