Numpty question but what details do you need to put on a medical card for cross country? Son is doing his first comp next month.

Also can anyone recommend a stud girth as the Kincade stud guard I bought has rubbed horses armpit

As thistle says just fill in the medical card-it is fairly straight forward! You may not know your sons blood group but unless he has had a blood test or given blood then you won't know! don't worry about that!

You did get free medical cards and holders from Goodyear! I think the link was on HH but ages ago! But they are only £5 to buy.

As for the stud girth-did the last one rub or is this the first time using one? Luckily never had that problem myself but my friend had problems and eventually found the horse had changed shape and every girth rubbed so ended up getting a new saddle! Maybe getting a shaped one would be your answer?

Good luck in the competition

Castlemouse - thanks for the link have bookmarked it.

Foraday - the guard we have is one that fits onto his normal girth. It was ok when we used it for the first time on Sunday but it was only on for a short time. Tuesday he rode for much longer & it has rubbed in front, ok where the girth itself fits. The leather is quite stiff & as I wasn't there I don't know if he maybe did it up too tight / didn't have the position quite right. I looked at the price of proper stud guard girths & they were £!!!! so I'm a bit nervous about laying out that much without making a careful choice. Local saddlery only had Jeffries so if I wanted anything else I would have to go online. At least I've seen scratches on the guard so I know we need something it's just deciding the best option. Horse is a very chunky fresian/cob cross.
