Medical grade manuka honey - best stuff?

that is very cheap is £6.39 from animed who are the online pharmacy we recommend at work, it does show as a UK based company so maybe just research the company. It is the right product though and one that is used at work

I bought the 24+ one from holland and barrett, 250g £30. That was very good and I would buy some more.

The product advertised on amazon at around £3 is only 25gram so based on the H & B one is around the same price. For my horse I would have needed to buy several 25g tubes.

It's more expensive because it is gamma irradiated to make it safer to use in already compromised areas. Food grade manuka is only pasteurised and carries a higher risk of introducing more bugs into the wound

Activon is great stuff, just been using it to treat my dog's necrotising fasciitis wound. I was lucky though and managed to get a box of 12 from my vet on the insurance! Depends what you are treating, if it is a serious injury then splash out on the medical grade, otherwise buy as good a quality as you can afford. I did use stuff from the supermarket initially until the activon arrived, but was concerned about contamination in an already very serious wound.

I've bought a couple of tubes of Activon - fingers crossed. Its only a tiny split in the corner of horse's mouth after he was a total thug hunting on Sat so hopefully it should clear up quickly.

We've just got through about 10 tubes of Activon 100% Medical Grade Manuka Honey from our vet, after our dog had to have his tail amputated - excellent at sloughing off the necrotic tissue and promoting new skin growth whilst being an antibacterial. Amazing stuff! Don't be put of by the price. Think we paid £4.50 ish a tube from the vet, and am buying some from Amazon to have on standby!

Be sure that what you buy is 'Activated Manuka Honey' with a high rating. If it comes from New Zealand you don't need to worry about getting medical grade, our honey is top quality. I've been using it for many years on some seriously nasty wounds and with excellent results.

The high rating is the key to achieving good results.

My vet gave me the activon you have linked to in you OP for a small but infected cut just above coronet band, its certainly working well.

You run a risk using honey that's not been irradiated on a wound a small risk admittedly but the consequences could be awful if it went wrong .
