I can find the following people making rugs without a fill of around 100g or so

Weatherbeeta
Premier Equine
Rhinegold

Does anyone else do something around this weight?

The Amigo Bravo Lite is no fill, and you can buy the Horsewear liners to go with it. I have one of these and a 100g liner so it can be light or medium/light.

HTH

I'm following this thread with interest.... I ordered 2 Rhinegold 100g rugs for my two, and neither fits. Both too big in the neck with the strap set too low, so the rug pulls across the shoulder and rides back over the withers. Not a happy bunny. :(

I have the FAL 40g, it definately seems more than that. Depending on what size you want Ive seen Shires Stormcheater 100g on Hope Valley for under £30 as I was thinking about getting one but decided the FAL will do the job. Not sure how good they are though??

My mare had a fantastic tartan one which was that weight (not sure of make now I'm afraid) and she got wedged between the gate and post one day, panicked like a fraggle and tore the entire thing in two halves!

I recently replaced it with a Robinsons bright carrot orange one which was in the sale for £25 - 150 fill but it leaks in heavy rain. I can see her a mile off though!!

Will have a look see. He's a 6'9'' in a Shires. It doesn't have to be great quality. It'll be the least used of my rugs as only any good for about a month a year I reckon :p

'cept JT's TB thinks she's a native too and grows a coat to rival any highland :D Fergs wears less clipped out than my cob does unclipped

Her majesty was very sweaty when I went to get her tonight. I am seriously considering clipping her as she is sweltering in this unseasonable warmth in her woolies. How is D not hot? :D

How about the Bucas Smartex Rain?

I would love one. But I'd have to rob a bank. I'm a bit strapped this month due to large number of competitive outings (which is a nice change to just general levels of broke in fairness) Am going to try and save for a Bucas for winter though. Reckon a smartex plus would see me through most of the year and I can ditch my hated neck rugs!! :D

I have PE and also my new favourite Swish to 0g, 50g and 100g

Swish are very high on my list as have heard good things and they seem very reasonable. I remembered about them after I posted so had a look. Good to hear positive stories though :)

Rambo now make an 'original' that is 100gms, and you can buy a neck cover for it too. Of course they aren't cheap though!!

They also make a California which is 100gms, but they aren't v widely available.

I use a rambo duo outer layer without a liner, that's 100gms.

I had a wetherbeeta but it was the one that got destroyed :( Still looking for something to replace it with so will be watching this as they seem hard to buy now without a neck on

I don't love him enough to buy him a Rambo. He'd only trash it! Poor BH is very neglected you know :p

He's very, very nekkid today

I've just purchased a Ruggles Equestrian in 100gm on recommendation from here, however haven't used it yet do can't comment on durability!

I have this rug - very pleased with it. Deep enough for my ID x and good quality fittings. Its survived a few really heavy downpours and my girlie stayed dry. Also doesn't rub or move which is a problem I've had with other cheaper brands.

Wouldn't recommend it for a skinny minnie as I think it would swamp them and the leg straps / belly straps wouldn't go short enough but for anything else I'd buy another one tomorrow.

I would recommend a Horseware Amigo rug. It is sold as a "medium" weight but is def a medium/ light weight rug only 100/120g x x

Bugger.. mine is the aforementioned skinny minny!
He's about to be swamped then :o:rolleyes:
Glad to hear it's good quality though!

gads, ive become really anal about these as Ive been searching high and low for one!

the mark todd autumner is actually 150g and the Amigo Med is 200g ;)

the weatherbeeta would be my choice but apparently they only make the combo version now - although, 4dobbin claim to be able to order in a new version so will wait and see as I have one on order from them.

Also ruggles do them - really rate them , surprised how good they are for the price so no wonder they are out of stock. Swish are pretty good, just not as pleased with the fittings at the front as the ruggles and the swish have a high neck fit, id also go a size down for a swish. the shires is ok but dont have shoulder darts so Im not keen. PE are good.

NSN, that is proper knowledge! I'm impressed. Shame derby house only have a 7' as theirs is dead cheap. Boo.

im anal about rugs:o they have to be 'perfect' on my girl and Ive honestly spent hours searching for 100g t/o's for her.:o Desperate for the WB so really hope 4dobbin have it right and there is a new version, however it has to be the freestyle version for the shoulder darts and tailflap:o

seriously impressed with the quality of ruggles,i got a wee version for my mini, good front straps with buckle and clip on 3 settings, shoulder darts, big tail flap, leg straps and fillet string. The version for bigger horses has 2 chest straps.

this is the swish on my mare, she is a perfect 6ft3 in WB's but I swapped this for the 6ft for her, it was long but also very deep and thats on a Sec D, the surcingles wouldn't go tight enough! Love the reflective strips on these. It does the job but straps at the front are a bit flimsy and just buckles and as I said, the neck is high ( its a new fit across all their rugs) so am hoping it doesnt rub.

NSN- your mini is adorable. Thank you for posting photos. Both those look good. What are the linings made of? BH rubs easily and I find nylon linings better.

Derby House ones. How small do they come up? My beast is 6'9'' in a Shires or a Weatherbeeta and a 6'6'' in a Mark Todd and a Masta. Would do you think he'd be?

If this helps... my boy is 6ft6 premier equine and amigo but has a 6ft 6 derby house and it looks a bit like a mini skirt on him. Not v generous across the bum either.

My boy is an ISH but basically a draught and 16hh 1.

Yes, this does help. It says to me I probably need a 6'9'' :)
