Here we go...

According to him and I quote "she fell out of the ugly tree and hit all the branches on the way down"...

She is by No Limit out of the very gorgeous ISH Katie by Lucky Gift and I for one think she is beautiful. Alec must have been at the gin again!

Alec tried to make a point by taking a really bad pic of her - more a reflection of the photographer rather than the filly:

I vote for Limitless Gift. That back leg will make her VERY useful across country!

Well done Alec :D

She's a beauty! Look at those legs!

*hands Alec another gin while getting him to sign her over to me*

My god Alec, it's RANK and you need to stop beating it with the ugly stick, the tree has done enough damage!! ;)

shes pig ugly and you should keep her out of sight , you dont want to offend people so if you want I can do you a favour and hide her at my place :D

I want her! She's super cute and I'm pretty sure she's gonna have all the boys chasing her when shes older. Ugly? Did Alec have his beer goggles on... must have!

Thank you everyone, for your kind thoughts! I went out to check on her at first light, and she seems to be changing hourly. She's inquisitive, to the point of being bold, and poor Katie spends her time steering her away from trouble! Ditches, the pond, me and my car, all need careful inspection it seems, with Katie constantly rounding her up!

I had to take the companion mare, who's also in foal, but not due until mid June, away, as she was fascinated by her, to the point where Katie was being really aggressive, and she wan't getting the chance to settle and feed her foal. Katie is foal proud to the point where she will put her foals at risk, to fend off unwelcome visitors, be they two legged, or four. She's manageable by those two legged visitors who she knows, but others need to be cautious. She means what she says!

The in-foal companion mare is posing a problem. She's currently stabled, and I'm not prepared to risk putting her back. They're both experienced brood mares, so why they're being so daft, is beyond me.

On the question of naming, others have suggested Limitless ........ and last night whilst watching yet another re-run of todays wedding plans, a red London bus went through the camera shot, and there emblazoned on the side was an advert. LIMITLESS, so that's what it's to be, I think!

I still think that she looks a bit strange, but she's growing on me, and to be truthful, I don't really care about "pretty", it's her ability to be of use which matters!

Alec.

Lovely little horsey. Alec should have gone to specsavers.

But if you want her off your hands theres space with my pony....

:D :D :D

Yep ugly - in fact so ugly I think you should sent her to me immediately (obvioiusly mum would have to come as well as she would need to shield our eyes from her ugly baby) then I can put her in the corner of the field where no-one can see her ;)

Is this like Angelina Jolie ugly?....... Yep, can't see the ugly myself but if you say so...

Yes, Exactly! Strangely though, I fail to see the attraction in A_J. I must be wrong, because the rest of the world seems to do cart wheels over her! Not me, I'd prefer to sit and gaze at the foal!!

Limitless will be her name, and now at less than 48 hrs, she's been flying about, whilst Katie's been doing her best to keep up!

I'm wondering if anyone else has any No Limit foals.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind thoughts, and Ginnie too!

Alec.

OMG Alec I cant believe how absolutely embarrassingly ugly that filly is, you must of course give her straight to me so I can keep her safely out of sight for you.....

Life can never be simple, can it?

My vet's children came to have a look at the foal, this afternoon, and though the mare was fine, a few hours earlier, she obviously wasn't right. I went to move her, and she was lame, on all four feet.

Mrs. Vet 'phoned her hubby, and 5 minutes later he turned up. Laminitis. Little heat, but a definite and strong pulse. Poor girl. She's had an anti-inflamatory, a pain killer, and a very mild sedative. We've put down an 8 bale Aubiose bed, we've walked her in, complete with her foal, and now I'm worried sick.

The mare hasn't had an ounce of feed all through her pregnancy, apart from ad-lib hay, and minerals. She has looked very well, all through her pregnancy, and still does. Too well, perhaps, and she's out on grass which could fatten bullocks. Odd that she should be laminitic post foaling.

I've spoken with my Stud Farm owning, guru, and forum user friend, who's suggested that I might take her temperature. She cleansed, but it would not have been for several hours. The cleanse was entire, I feel sure.

I'm now of to have another look at her. If anyone can find an old and disused prayer matt, would you be awfully kind and dig them out? I may not be entitled to help, but at the moment, I'd be truly grateful. :o

Alec.

How awful for you, off to dig out my prayer mat, disused holy relics etc for you now...

You mentioned that Katie had been fending off her field mate from the foal? How is your ground? Just a thought but if its as hard as round here maybe the laminitus could be caused by/exagerated by the concussion?

All to best, just hoovering the prayer mat...
