Jura has been gone for 2 months now and it has been pretty tough
We weren't thinking about getting a new dog for a while but we didn't last long!
About 3 weeks ago, we got in touch with the Labrador Rescue Society Scotland. The lady who runs it, Carolyn, is lovely and she has been fantastic throughout the whole process. We went to see Barra on Sunday, and knew we had to have him. He was loved and well cared for in his old home but some changing circumstances had made them realise that it would not be fair on the dog.
The wee man is 15 months old and not completely full lab (he has white speckles on the back of his legs). He has been perfect (so far!!) and settled in as if he has been here his whole life
The walking wasn't great at his old home so he wasn't let off the lead often and he is rather pully but in just a few walks with a magic harness - that a lady, browsing in pets at home, pulled out her car for us - he is a different dog! He has also seen the horses for the first time and was great, which is a relief!
His name was Max but due to my Dad's obsession with Scottish Islands he is now Barra. Apparently, the next two (!!) are going to be called Gigha and Fidra. He seems to have grasped his new name very quickly (always helps treat-training with a lab!).
Anyway, enough of my nattering! Here he is (plus link to Jura's thread to show their likeness):
