So after nearly two years of trying to convince my partner to allow me to get a Dachshund, he finally agreed and we picked up a black and tan standard daxie at the end of Jan.

We are completely in love with her and my partner is besotted with her... and even said to me he wish we had gotten one sooner!

Here she is, meet Fern (who's now 4 months).

She’s beautiful...I love her name .
Huge plus is her size, the standards are hopefully less disposed to health issues.
is she from health tested parents?

I cannot tell you how much of a little girl i turn into when i see a dachshund puppy (not ideal as a 43 yr old man!) There is just something about them that makes my brain go to mush, my voice rise about 40 octaves and my masculinity disappear. Recently proven when someone came to collect an ebay item and they had one in their car.

Your puppy is gorgeous, absolutely beautiful ... oh god I've started, lol! I'm going, lol!

They are so lovely and every one I have met has been such a sweet natured thing, however, i took my dog to a specialist recently and saw not one, not two, but three of them in the car park having to be carried because they couldn't walk. It was heart breaking. Please, please take out insurance for your pup, these dogs seem to have such devastating issues when things go wrong.

I am in love with Fern, she's so gorgeous! I have a dachshund x JRT (although she’s 3/4 dachshund) and they are just the best little dogs.

Mine is a fab yard dog, she’s respectful of the horses and loves coming out got a hack. As I’m sure you’re finding out, they’re full of personality and such good fun! ECE528D9-FDF4-4881-80A8-A534D6E24E16.jpeg

Just too cute for words. I would love one myself and I also go completely gaga and embarrass myself when I see one.
I have to be dragged away , usually with the owner checking I haven't stuffed their puppy in my handbag or coat pocket.

Me too. Friends of ours had a dachshund with the most wonderful silky coat; however he was so bitey with everyone except his family that you could not stroke him! Really frustrating.

It's so sad isn't it :( poor pups. We made sure we got really good insurance for her incase of any potential back issues.

Roxie says hello to Fern!

Aww Roxie is so gorgeous! I've been bringing Fern up to the stables most days and she is definitely getting more confident around the horses. Took a dislike to the foals though and started barking at them!

To be honest that was the main reason I wanted a standard as opposed to a mini because of the health risks, and I hoped that a standard would keep up with my spaniel too haha. Yes she is :)

She is beautiful. From what I know, the standards are generally healthier and do (touch wood) not seem to experience some of the more commonly thought of daxie issues.
I think you will have fun with her.

My friend has one and every time I see him my heart melts and I just want to steal him away.
