I picked her up today from Luton - 2 1/2 hours and 150 odd miles away - she slept all the way home

She is a tattooed, registered Irish greyhound who is as small as a whippet - and I think she is so ugly with those markings she is really sweet

I nearly brought another home too, a stunning golden male greyhound, but thank god another family was viewing him so they had him

Edited to add some better pics of her, nicked from a greyhound forum - the rescue lady took them before I arrived today

I dont like only having one dog, it is too strange - and my excuse is that Islay doesnt like being on her own

They were very very good on the way home in the car, just slept all the way home, and are now asleep on the sofa and on the dog bed respectively - I think they will be OK, just need to settle down together

Oh, I could so understand why you found it hard to resist those markings

, but nearly ending up with taking two

I could understand that it felt strange for you with only one dog. When Humla died in january, it was the first time on more than 17 years, that I only had one dog. It felt strange and actually, simply wrong, only one leash, one food bowl etc. But since I had already decided that next new dog would be one of Jonna's puppies, I had to wait for nature...

Do you know how old she is?
Have you had any hints on her personality, such as likes or dislikes kisses and cuddles, shy, forward etc.?
And most important, do you feel happy?

Congratulations to your new family member, from Sweden.

She will be 2 years old in January FL - she was bred for racing but has never raced as she is far too small, so seems to have been in rescue kennels most of her life

She was a starvation case when they got her in Ireland, although she looks fine now - but she is obssessed about food!

We stopped at the supermarket on the way home so I could get some tea, then went to the livery yard to feed Bob on the way home. In the time it took me to get out of the car, go and open the gate to the yard, and get back into the car Flick had dived into the shopping bag and was trying to eat the pizza

I think she is going to be a cuddly dog, she likes people very much (amazingly after what she has been through) but is also playful so I am hoping she and Islay can have a great time racing around together once I can let her off the lead

At the moment I am dying to give her a good bath, she smells of kennels, but I thought it was a bit unfair on her first night at home! She has the same coat that Islay had when I got her - very thick, like felt - so I think she will have a massive moult now and hopefully look much better for it.

And already I am very happy

She is very different to Talisker, which is a good thing, but it is so nice to have two dogs around again

She is doing very well so far - apart from the howling and trying to empty the bin every two minutes
grin.gif
I took her for a walk today and she was beautifully behaved, and she has racked up her first vets bill bless her

£45 for flea treatment and a steroid injection to stop her scratching
