Yes we are mad, but we have thought it through, and done a lot of research.

Last night we picked up this little lady. We'd been looking for another dog for a while, and were really hoping to get a rescue. Have been looking, but all the dogs we like seemed to be no cats, or only pet home only. She came up purely by chance, last one left in litter. She has had 1st vaccination, is microchipped, and is booked into our vet Tuesday for her second jab.

Puppy classes have already been booked, and we deliberately waited until last night to collect her as we are off all next week. When we do go back to work, OH can come home lunchtimes, plus D, who is 18, is here too during the day.

Aled is happy so far, Rosie (cat) is totally indifferent, and Ozzie (cat) is completely offended that she doesn't cower down to his greatness like Aled does.

Will probably have a million questions over time if no one minds, long time since we've had a pup.

Oh she is utterly beautiful Theresa, I bet you'll have a lot of fun with her. Start the training and mind games as soon as you can, this first few weeks is crucial with their learning.

We will do. The puppy course runs for 6 weeks, and then we can move onto more training and obedience.

She didn't make a sound last night, didn't know what I would find when I came down this morning, she was curled up asleep on the sofa! Lord knows how she got on there.

Gorgeous! Yes you are mad!! LOL. x

I know we are! Having Aled really re-awakened my love of dogs, and I can't imagine life without anymore.

She's had a bit of an upset tummy all day. Lively, eating and drinking. We are feeding her what breeder fed for now, so no change in diet. Could it just be all the changes for her? She is at vets Tuesday anyway, so will keep an eye and take her sooner if I think she needs it.

Oh wow - she is beautiful! I am sure you are going to have loads of fun with her. Will you run her in harness or do cani-x or some such activity? Huskies really do need to run and run and run ... and run :)

Might be the change of water. You're apparently meant to take as much water from the breeder's home as possible. Stick to whatever the breeder fed and swap very slowly to what you choose.

Thank you. Knew to take it slowly changing feed, but didn't think about the water.

She's been tonight after her tea, and it was a lot more solid. (Sorry if TMI)

Seriously? I have never heard that before :) it will just be a change of home/excitement OP, I really wouldn't worry unless it persists for longer than 24 hours

Seriously! :)

Water varies tremendously from region to region; both that occurring naturally and that supplied by the utilities companies. When you consider how much water we/animals contain it should be no surprise!

I'd never really thought about it with animals before but you're so right! When I moved to Derby from London I found their tap water almost undrinkable - it tasted so different to what I'd grown up with!

lovely pup-yes you are mad :D

agree re the water, would do it for horses as well. the difference between Scottish water and water in say, East Anglia is huge (one is lovely, the other completely bogging)

LOL my mum has been selling puppies for 40 years and has never sent them off with water, there has never been a problem :) Hers go all over the world...maybe she is just lucky :)

I've never heard it either, Levrier. I do agree with MOC about EastAnglian water though, but I am immune to its disgustingness.

The water is very soft up here compared to what we had in Essex, but she did come from a breeder quite local.

She woke me at just after 5 this morning because she wanted to go toilet, which was all normal. As the day has gone on, I've noticed they've got a lot looser though. It is very hot today, and both dogs are drinking a lot. Have also caught her bringing in stones and bits of "stuff" from the garden, so am pretty sure that isn't helping.

Still very bright in herself, no signs of dehydration.

The water thing is something I picked up over the years. I'm sure most pups cope fine with a change, but some are more sensitive than others.

My lovely instructor used to always tell me to mix a new bale with some of the old in haynets. You're meant to substitute small amounts of old food with new food, so I guess it makes sense. Obviously more important for fish as they live in it, you're supposed to gradually add water from the aquarium/pond into the bag.

I was in Hereford this week, I automatically checked the kettle in the cottage to see if it needed a rinse to get rid of lime scale. It was spotless. My kettle here is constantly in need of a clean and the water stinks of chlorine.

Can't comment on anything of any use (as per!) but she's just lovely :smile3: and I hope you're all very happy together.

(Also, I bet Blackcob's ears are pricking up/spidey senses tingling with that photo of Luna :biggrin3:)

Squitty puppy in a house I can live with.
Squitty dog in a car and on the road/at a competition/holiday park/ferry home, not cool lol.

Mine would also get the runs in hot weather and its not unusual when under stress (new home).

So, any of the above! ;)

Thank you all. I'm not worried about her as she is well and lively in herself, and she is happy to eat, and is drinking, but obviously I know puppies can go down hill very quickly. She will go the vet before tuesdays appt if anything at all changes.

We are very lucky that she is very clean in the house. She has asked us to go outside all day when she's needed to go.

She is such a sweetie TW, please do give us photo updates regularly :)

You are well going to regret saying that, but I will do :)

She is very funny. Aled loves to chase his toys when we throw them for him. He will bring them to us, and sit waiting for us to go outside and throw them. It is so hot here today, we don't want to overdo it with him. He brings them in, drops them on the floor, and she picks them up for him and waits eagerly for a response.

Ha ha no-one can post more (probably very boring to others) pictures of their dogs than me - we won't regret it :D

I love looking at your pics Lev. A local rescue had a fun day today, so I took Aled along. There were quite a few greyhounds there and I thought of you.

Took Aled in the golden oldie show. He didn't win, but was so well behaved. He's my champ.

Awww Aled is a superstar - I love the oldies more than anything and he is totally gorgeous :) :) I had to stop showing mine because I was so affronted when they didn't win :p :D :D

I have to admit, I can't believe they didn't choose him in the top 4. (There were about 12 in the class).

11.5 and still thinks he's 2 most of the time. I love him so much.

First time I've ever taken him to something. There were loads of dogs there, and he was just so good with them all. X
