Just wondering if I should be giving him a supplement of any sort? Grass will be in short supply over winter and he will be on adlib hay with Charlie.

I am giving my 2yo a little handful of "safe and sound" - it has all the vits in it already.

He is a very fat Welsh A.

thanks guys:)
it does.. but only if fed in the right quantities which is a lot if you read the bag. i have S&S here as charlie gets its with lowcal balancer.... wondering about a powder vit&min to go in a handful of it for Phoenix.

We just give ours a molassed vitamin lick and add lib hay/haylage, especially the good doer types! He's very cute by the way!!!:D

I personally would either give him access to a stable lick in a tub or feed a powder supplement like D&H Surelimb or Naf youngstock or even just equivite in a little feed of unmollassed chaff...
He looks V Cute BTW! what a fab birthday pressie!

To be honest, a healthy youngster should do need much more than decent quality hay (if there's no grass) and maybe a mineral lick available.

We have foals and youngsters, and we feed them ad lib hay but put mineral licks in the barns for them. They do well on the mineral licks :)

Lovely present :) Wish my OH would do that for me!

thank you - yes ive been thinking about it today and thought a lick might be the best thing.:) Any recommendations? Is there one that will be ok for my horse as well?
