This is my new horse- a 3 year old called whitley village Inka. Straight from the stud, she arrived yesturday and has settled in well. She is currently at least 15hh and bigger behind and has a lot of maturing to do!
Today me and Inka have been working on tieing up and did a bit of picking up feet work as well as me tidying her up a little.
She has never been tied up before so did the thing where you slide lead rop through ring and then hold on the end so it gives a little as she pulls back but she should yield to the pressure and step forward again which she did. She learns so quickly! She was tieing up normally by the end of the day and I only worked on it for 10mins with her. Her feet need a lot more work but didn't want to stress her out as she was a little worried.
When I lead her out to the field and in etc I have made sure I have been saying "back" and "stand" and "walk on" etc and she already understands the words! She is so good! She learnt back pretty much straight away. She was a lot more relaxed by the end of the day and when I put her out, she just did a little trot and then started grazing.

her and dancer are great friends now:

She is so so so pretty, I love her! I love her name too, really suits her :)
What are your plans with her? Produce her to event/sj etc. and then sell, or do you think you'll keep her longer term?

Plan is to train her to do dressage and see if she has talent enough to make it to Psg+ and if not then I will have to sell her. I have already fallen a bit in love with her though, she has such a lovely temperament!
I think she will have a fab jump as well so may have to get brave and jump her lol.

lovely! :)
surprised studs dont do more basic ground work before the age of 3, especially commands like 'back' and 'over' to teach youngsters to respect your space out of safety dealing with them at that bargy stage between 1 and 2 but maybe big studs just dont have the time with a lot of stock so that's fair enough.

what breeding is he.. Is that a slight araby looking mane i see in there you've plaited up and how big is she expected to make?

Her sire is the connie (arrow javelin) and her mum is the ID x TB. (Gsire cambridge blue).
Her mane was mega long when she came where she has been untouched. I just plaited it to train it to stay on the right side. Will have to cut it once it stays.

I think she has had handling but they let the youngsters go feral over the summer so they forget everything. She has had her feet trimmed and been wormed etc but that is about it.

I've got Whitley Village Quartz & she looks just like him. He's rising 6 & a complete softy. He's not done all that much yet (due to my pregnancy) but was a doddle to back & bring on. I hope you have lots of fun with her :)

just so he doesn't feel left out! Whitley Village Jupiter, Inka's 4 yr old full brother. He didn't come to from the breeder, I bought him as a rather poor rising 4 year old earlier this year. He is about 15.1 and looks a bit chunkier than his sister, think he may make 15.3?
Don't they all look alike?
ps have posted link (hopefully) how do you get photos on here, no professional photos here!
Jupiter has currently been pinched by a friend and occasionly my daughter as I have a broken arm (nothing to do with Jupiter!) and now a re broken, broken arm! He is just ticking along , also bum high, as he is quite cheeky and bright so he needs a holiday less than me! He also has a very short attention span and very quickly decided he knew everything! Hence the drop jumping jolly!

Amanda123- you copy and paste the IMg code on photobucket for each picture.
Kate081- who is your boys mother? They do all look do alike! I hope she's easy to back. I think she should be as she seems so chilled and eager to please. Everybody seems to like her including dancer and usually she is very fussy about her friends lol!

Dancer and inka are in a field next to Rowan at the moment and they are both in season and running up to Rowan and spraying everywhere! Poor boy, he just looks very confused by these actions. Looks like I will have 2 disgusting tails to wash tomorrow! Do they have to buck/ trot and spray at the same time?!? Sigh

Jupiter is lovely too. All so similar. Quartz is by Artful Archer (son of Arrow Javelin) and looks just like his dad. Mum is 3/4 TB 1/4 ID. He's only made about 15hh even tho he was bum high at 3.

Lovely to see some other Whitley Village horses :)

Well we need to buck the trend here, Whitley Village Mirage is a chestnut mare, sire Artful Archie (by Arrow Javelin) dam was Megan but have no info on her, but from what I've found she looks mostly if not all TB.
She is very affectionate in the field, food obsessed, but a bit nervy and can be opinionated. We've had a few problems with napping, but getting much better, and she does improve each time. She was late foaled in '06, so only just turned 6. She came to me via a local AI who had bought her through Leominster sales.
Doing what she does best, eating:

Before dressaging.....

And after dressaging...

She looks like a nice type, I hope you have lots of fun with her :)

Just a note, but I would get a farrier to look at her asap (am sure you will) i'd be a bit worried about her long pasterns and hoof angle (shes very back on her heels), think it needs to be got on top of sooner rather than later :)

Tempi this is an old thread. I got her hooves done about 4 weeks ago (1 week after we had her) and her feet are fab now! Farrier said she should be able to stay barefoot.
Had physio check her over yesterday and she said she has really good conformation and paces other than her hocks but she said she should grow out of it hopefully since she is quite undeveloped for her age. Fingers crossed!
