We're renting a pony for my daughter. He's 12hh and bloody lush.

He has diabetes after he was loaned to someone who showed him. And fed him up. He has good manners but needs improving and he pulls and always trying to sniff treats out when walking even though he's not allowed any.

He trotts slowly which Is perfect for daughter. He's staying at the home he's at now. He's just perfect. :) we're starting to rent him from weds. He's £10 a week.

My god I look massive!!! Just ignore my face. Hoping the weight will drop off me once we get started running next to um lol

Yes flip flops! Lmao we was going to go and see him today, we had gone for a stroll round a market and passing the house he lives, poped in to say hi and ended up tacking him and taking him out! Lmao

I need to get some shoes, but only have trainers ATM, where's best place for my big clown feet?! :(

I used to have a wee Section A called Sparky - Sparkys of the world are def the best type of pony ;)

He looks fab, here's to many years of enjoyment for your daughter :)

I'm actually in love with him lol. He was quiet naughty for him owner when she walked him round, pulling and trying to get some treats, but was perfect for me. He wouldn't go into a trot and the slowd right down, what would be the best way to get him to trott?

He was a show pony so was used to being treated to stay looking forward, he's got to learn he's not having anything lol

I'm going down to him on weds, I'm going to get them both to play some pony club games, to try and get Taylor abit more used to him. Does anyone know any lol, I used to do some when I rode, and loved it! But was a verryyyyy long time ago :(

lovely pony, and lucky you "finding" him!
For games, how about bending poles (cones) at walk to start; collect an apple from the top of the fence take it down the arena and throw into a bucket; stepping stones on upturned buckets; get him used to "sacks" and practice for sack race/musical sacks... have fun!
Also... have you come across "chatterhappy ponies"? Not sure of your daughters age but try ebay/amazon for the dvds (wwe had/have videos) she should enjoy, and theres a Sparky :D

lovely looking pony - I hope you have great fun with him!

Just on a side note, I don't wish to be rude or speak out of turn, but your daughter really needs to wear shoes/boots with a heel to ride rather than trainers with flat soles. If her shoes don't have a heel her foot can go all the way through the stirrup in the event of a fall (or indeed just as riding round), which can mean serious injury.

It may be this was a one off, in which case sorry :o But having seen someone whose ankle was snapped due to wearing flat shoes when exercising a horse (it was hideous!), it's something I'm extra aware of now!

What a nice little pony. Agree with all thats been said and make sure her feet are in the stirrups which look like safety etc and yes some jodphur boots for you both! Or some low wellies for you to run fast in! Definitely worth getting an RI in to give you both a lesson(I really enjoyed watching my kids learn to ride and learnt quite a lot just listening) but as she is so small you will be leading etc.

I always like good gloves(they dont have to be leather) if you are leading and the ponio pulls gloves will save your hands etc. Re trotting I would just take it slow to begin with walk/half halts etc and try to build up to some trotting.

But really enjoy him and I hope she thoroughly enjoys.

Lovely pony. Defo recommended getting the help of an experienced kids instructor to give you some good tips.
Also really sorry but never ever put your daughter up in trainers, actually suggest you get some stirrup cages just to be really safe.

Hi thanks everyone, like I said we wasn't supposed to be goi g to see him today, her hate is always kept in the car.

At her riding school she hires her shoes, but the owner of sparky has given her some new boots, there purple and lush! :p she deffo won't be in flats, her foot kept slipping! X
