.Her old loaner renamed her Tatty because she looked so bad and it stuck shes called Millie on her passport.

Ollie is very pretty but I have a thing for dark bays!

no, still the same. one is fully crippled, the other half crippled! still both very cute (just as well as otherwise would have slung them both into a field a year ago!)

have you been to visit Ollie in his new home yet?

No I havent keep putting it off as I know it will be last time I see him and be really final. He s galloping round with his seven buddies and apparently not lame but then hes only being walked in hand so time will tell.He is also barefoot something that I never thought would work, perhaps the remedial shoeing put his problems right .His heels were badly collapsed although they looked good when he left.He has good life plenty of grass and company its all I could wish for.
Any ideas what you want to do with your two .I remember one is older and semi retired anyway.Hope you can get the other oneback on track.

First impressions overall - very smart horse, good strong colour, nicely marked on her head, and has a lot of presence.
Head - lovely head, with expressive eyes, looks quality. Mouth a little short, with what looks like a narrowish muzzle (is she Tb?) which may mean she wouldn't have room for double bridles/chunky bits.
Neck - length is fine, if a little compact, but slightly 'ewe-necked' - she lacks topline on the neck. She also has a little too much muscle underneath the neck, which suggests that she is a little resistant to the bit. I suspect the neck will improve dramatically with correct schooling/condition, as the basic structure is sound.
Withers - very high (do not ride bareback

) which may give you problems in saddle fitting, as well as accentuating her slight ewe neck.
Shoulder - angle is a little too upright for my liking, for this type of horse - which will limit her stride length.
Back and barrel - she is nice and deep through the girth (gives good space for heart and lungs, giving her good stamina) Her back is relatively compact for a mare, quite strong, with decent proportions. She is lacking muscle either side of the wither, along each side of the spine where the saddle would sit. This will improve in time, but then your saddle won't fit her any more! She has a slight roach back (the upward curve of her loins) which could indicate a previous injury. Roach backs tend to be strong, but lack suppleness. Her tail is set quite high.
Chest - good width, front legs appear straight which will mean she should not be susceptible to splints, etc.

Front leg - forearms are average, in an ideal world would be a little longer, good flat knee joints, and decent amount of bone for her type. Her cannons are a little long (the longer a tendon is, the weaker, like a suspension bridge), but well formed. Her pasterns are also a little long, but the angle looks ok, and the feet are a good size and shape for her.
Hind legs - basic structure is ok, although a little straight, and lacking muscle all over the hindquarters, and in the second thigh. She is a little cow-hocked, and toed out behind, but then Tb types and other racing bred horses are often made this way to ensure their hind feet clear their front feet at a gallop. Hind cannons look fine - a good length. I can't see the pasterns and feet clearly enough, sorry!
Overall - a very smart looking horse, with a particularly attractive head, but who will still change a lot as she gains condition and muscle.
Do you want me to guess at how I think she'll go?

Your spot on with ewe neck , topline is coming so it is improving.Originally she had huge lump base of neck but it isnt so noticable now.I always described her as a giraffe. She was completely upside down with her neck muscles built up underneath head high in the air and she hated the bit or any contact. She accepts bit and leg contact now. Its took me long time to get her to work in correct outline but she can hold it longer every time we school.I had someone out for her back she hadnt been working correctly and had no muscle along spine.Yes she is tb but not sure what she is crossed with more tb in temperment than my full tb.I bought her bates and had it fitted properly and have changed gullet from med to med wide she has gained 40 k.I still feel she gets sore across her back now she is working in outline .
shoulder - she struggles with long stride and was very choppy and still reverts if anxious. She dished badly but again this is improving with schooling.
Thanks very much appreciate your comments feel free to comment on how she goes.
