She is being chaser clipped for first time ever today and i have a mw with neck and hw no neck to rug with incase she gets cold.

Are you nervous that its her first time being clipped or that she will feel cold? The weather is so warm at the moment she'll be fine. I feel mean leaving a rug on my hairy one, I should probably take it off but I don't want to battle with mud. Hope it all goes well.

Why bother? All our horses are moulting like mad at the moment. She will be starting to grow her summer coat and you risk ruining it. I never clip after December.

Would it make you feel any better if I told you that of the six I look after, only two have rugs on at all now, and they are lightweight rugs. Four of them are out 24/7. They were far too hot even with lightweights on, I've never had to do this this early before but it is ridiculously mild.

In case it makes you feel better - my mare is hunter clipped and today she is in a MW high wither neck and a stretchy nylon hood thing. It is very very mild at the moment but even if it gets megga cold she will still go out every day for around 12 hours in a HW with hood.
