Mega spooky on supplements

My horse has a collateral ligament injury and is currently on field rest with loads of supplements on vets directions.

He normally has one scoop of Pink Powder a day and now he is having 60g of EKYFLEX Repair daily which is supposed to go on for 6 weeks and a loading dose of 100ml of Devils Relief daily.

Since being on the EKYFLEX he has become the spook monster from hell. Normally he is calm and in the 8 months I have had him he has never ever spooked. Now just bringing him in from the field is a nightmare and he is on high alert all the time, shooting forwards and sideways at birds flying by or a cockeral crowing. This morning he did a major spook in his stable for absolutely no reason. He seems really wired!

Has anyone else experienced this major personality change on these supplements? I have to start riding him again in two weeks initially out hacking in walk and to be perfectly honest I am seriously worried.

Any thoughts welcome.

You should discuss with the vet, there are other supplements, I don't like mixing them , would rather have one which works, just cut back on the all of them or on the one you feel is less essential, I am assuming he is getting supplements mixed with a hi fibre chaff or something similar.
It is not field rest for ligaments if he is charging around, and I assume he is not showing symptoms or you would not be ready for exercise. If he is on field rest, I assume he is not stabled?

Thanks for your thoughts. I will speak to the vet before I ride him and seek his advice.

He is on field rest but because of the flies I bring him in the heat of the day. I live in the south of France and it is already very hot here.

He is not charging around in the field, thank God, so he is getting good rest that way. He is still very slightly lame but he has two issues going on which is the LCL and he also has some shoulder lameness. We think that this was due to a change of farrier and that now he has a better one the LCL and the shoulder will improve. His toes had been left too long and his heels were too low.

The EKYFLEX is on prescription from the vet, it is mega expensive here and the Devils Claw I get from the UK. In many ways they are in the dark ages here as far as supplements go and they are very hard to get hold of. A litre of Devils Claw when I eventually found it here was well over 70€.
