Any experiences/thoughts/views on Megazort and Aquamax.

If you have it how much do you use/how do you muck it out etc.

Trying to find an alternative to straw for new stables wtih rubber mats in and need to order quite quickly.

Thank you

Aquamax has quickly become a favourite with rubber mat owners on our yard!! They are using a bale a week, and finding it really clean and absorbant. Needs a fair bit of water before use though to make it look like a "proper" bed

I use Megazorb in both of my stables (well all three now) on top of rubber matting and I absolutely love it. I have one very messy mare and a yearling who wanders around quite a bit, and both are so much easier to muck out than when they were on shavings.

I have also tried Nedz Bedz but found it too heavy (I muck out fully every day) and BedMax and neither made me want to buy anymore. However, I have now been using Megazorb since February and am about to order another pallet

IME Megazorb is the best absorbant style beddin on the market. The trick is not to mess with it for a week or so after you put the new bed down. It soaks up gallons of wee and forms a soft mat at base level.

If you are the sort of person who likes to put the whole bed up every day you wont get on with it, it needs to knit together. You just need to take out patches when they start to sound wet underfoot.

I take mine up every single day and still love it... it soaks up the wet straight away fo you don't get any damp patches on your mats, and the bed stays lovely and fluffy too. It also does not stick to fleeces like shavings does.

Meagazorb is great. Nearly everyone on mats uses it up my yard. They just put down a thin layer where the horse wees and sweep it out every day.

Love them both, only reason I went back to shavings is that they were a pain to have to keep ordering in and shavings were a lot easier to get hold of.

VictoriaEDT - How much do you pay for Aquamax from them, do you have to order a min quantity to qualify for FOC delivery?

I'm just waiting on a whole free bed and then 2 months supply of Nedzbed Advance that I've won, not sure what it's like but it's free so I can't complain

Boss these are really interesting - do you deep litter or do you use fresh each day?

Semi-deep litter as we have rubber mats so they has a 1/2 bed of reasonable thickness, droppings removed daily, worst of wet removed about once a week but it needs to compact down onto a firm base ideally. It works really well

I use megazorb - its brilliant.

Bozzy you can get it from Total Equestrian down the A4 - not too far from Newbury. Its where I get it from now thanks to some kind HHO'er that told me.

Hi, can I correct this? The wood fuels stuff is similar to Aquamax - it may be cheaper BUT read the small print. The Eco Fuels pellets are made from WASTE material, just like Natures Best. So you don't always know what you are getting. JUST LIKE SHAVINGS, not all pellets are the same. If you see horsezz.co.uk you will see Aquamax is Canadian White Pine, nothing else. Ta

I use Aquamax on rubber mats. I use a relatively small amount in part of the stable and all the horses go over it to pee (they are sort of litter trained, but they all seem to do the training themselves!). I use one bag per stable per week and I think it's great stuff, very clean, very absorbent, very quick.
