Sending you a huge hug. You couldnt have done better by him. I would have done exactly the same. Hope that writing this down has helped you to work through it a bit more in your head. It def takes time to process something as traumatic as this xx

It definitely has. It’s the most I have thought about it since it happened, the world has been such a strange place since then it’s all felt a bit hazy xx

Deano was a lucky horse to have you. Not knowing the side effects, I think we all would have done the same.

The vets at Weipers sound like lovely, compassionate people.

I was lucky to have him too :) I can’t fault a single member of staff, everyone did everything they could to make a difficult time better - a few of the students came up to tell me that he was their favourite patient and they loved getting to work with him. It made me so happy to know so many people were there caring about him when I wasn’t there.

Oh wow, what a story, and what a generous thing of you to do to share it for the benefit of someone else down the line.

So sorry you lost him, but I think given the circumstances, you made far better decisions than I or lots of others would have x

Thank you. It’s kind of you and others to say this, and it genuinely means a lot to me.

The only thing any of us can do is the right thing at that moment in time given the particular set of circumstances you face. You did the very best you could for Deano, and he was lucky to have you in his corner.

And the vets sound lovely.

Thank you for writing that it must have been very hard to do.
Don't go down the "what if" road.
Try and remember how much you loved him and what a wonderful life he had. You did your best. No one can do more. x
