Would it stop you from buying a horse if you knew it had a small melanoma or wart on it's sheath?

Well they are very different things... I'd definitly want to know which it is. Have you had a vet look at it?

On the advert it's described as a small melanoma/wart  and i am a bit wary of whether going to see the horse is worth it.

well it could be a melanoma. Personally if it was I wouldn't touch it (I lost my old horse to melanomas last year and although they hardly ever effect a horse in that way, I wouldn't get another).

They should be able to tell which it is. They don't look similar. Give them a ring and ask if they've had their vet look at it and to send you some photos.

It's almost certainly a sarcoid - and sarcoids on the sheath are a PIG to treat! Liverpool Cream is too harsh - even Effudix, which I'm using on a couple of sarcoids on Rambo's sheath and scrotum, is painful (tothe point where I need one person holdingthe horse and another holding up a frontleg and I'm still dodging kicks!)

If he's in every other way perfect, I'd want at least £1,000 off a sensible market price!
