Melanomas and Cinetidine?

Hi guys,
does anyone have any experience of using this drug to combat melanomas? My 26 year old grey has always had some small ones round his dock but they have slowly enlarged and one is ulcerated. He also has one on his sheath area that must be growing rapidly because it is very big and I haven't noticed it before. I will get the vet out on Monday to have a look but I always value your opinions and experiences.

We have had experience with cimetidine this year. Grey mare, 21. She was found to have a large melanoma in her rectum. After six weeks on cimetidine it had shrunk from 4cm to just over 1 cm and after another six weeks it had gone. She does have to be on a maintenance dose of cimetidine for the rest of her life or it will return.

The main thing to know with cimetidine is that it only works on malignant melanomas - ie fast growing aggressive melanomas. It does not work on benign slow growing melanomas. Our mare has a lot of external melanomas round her face and tail - these did not react at all to the cimetadine and are as big as they were before she started taking it.

For us cimetidine has been a wonder drug but it doesn't work for everyone.
