Has anyone had any experience with a melanoma being sited on the penis? Did you treat? How was it treated?

My YO's daughters pony appears to have a melanoma on the side of his penis. He doesn't seem bothered by it, but it is about the size of a marrowfat pea and I haven't noticed it before, so I'm concerned it is fast growing.

Unfortunately I don't think the daughter will have seen/noticed it (how many 9yos would?), and I have no idea how I'm going to mention a (possible) penile tumour to an Alsacian cow farmer (they are a very, er, special, breed of humans...)

Can't you just ask her about it? Under the guise of wanting to learn? "I was just wondering, can you tell me what that lump on his willy is? I've never seen anything like it before." I presume she wouldn't take kindly to that though based on your post.
Unfortunately when it comes to YO horses I tend to be of the opinion "not my horse, not my problem" and why I'm glad our YO don't own horses, you never find yourself judging their horsecare.

no experience of one being there but have others treated -happy to chat by PM but tbh, other than excising them, nothing else works and even excising them has limited results (the pony will have others you cant see, all melanomas become malignant at some point-its just when that point is. my horse's melanomas meant I had him PTS at 11). Having used cisplatin (you'd not want to use that on a penis-painful and of limited success) and cimetidine (useless) there's also other treatments that those in the know count as purely money making.

My YO is male, and knows absolutely nothing about horses.

I seriously don't want to get into a conversation (in French btw) about horse penises, as I'll never get a serious response from him, and he'll avoid me for weeks afterwards (Alsacian famers are all very juvenile, no matter what their age; the fact that I'm female and younger than he is (though not by much) will make him incredibly embarrassed that I'm discussing horse genitalia with him.

Would definitely try and find some way of bringing it up. I was told by Dick Vet that if pony's had been left much longer, he would not have been able to pee so would have ended up being put down.

Generally find farmers are pretty laid back about such subjects.
