member of the 'are we too fat for our horses' clique - views please?

Hear hear lexiedhb. I feel very, very worthless right now, I AM fat, and I hate myself.....the only thing right now that makes me feel good is riding.
I love my horse with all my heart and the concept that thoughtless people who have no idea how it feels to be in my shoes will laugh at me and call me names is heartbreaking.

if I write 'ignorant' does it offend you on it's own?

what if I say ...you are an ignorant c**t... do those words put together offend you....

you work it out!

NO! That wasn't when he went lame! He did something out in the field all alone overnight and the vet and I will never know what caused it to quote my vet.

jnb....... dont feel bad... Im fat too, but thinner than I was in march.... will PM you the name of a fab diet, which has a really SUPPORTIVE forum with people on it who actually know what issues over weight people have!

Thats nice. Not quite the same as calling someone a fat woman I don't think?

I have to agree Michelle. It's all very well you being thrilled to post pics of yourself and the weight that you've lost, but that horse is very over weight, and as he's clearly been with you some time, you must have been the one who let him get that way
crazy.gif

POT and KETTLE, springs to mind, before you go preaching to others about the way they manage their horses.

I don't suppose you would, because you're ignorant.

How would you feel if someone referred to you as a (for example) spotty, ill mannered slapper?

I'd think they were quite right!

It just makes me angry thats all. I admit I am a little bit "fattest"

and it bothers me when people ride horse that are way too small for them just for the sake of it.
smirk.gif
It all so bothers me that hardly any overweight people say "I'm big because I like my food and I eat a lot" There always got to be an excuse!

I know I'm a bitch but i don't care! At least I'm honest!

LMAO!!
I'll say it!
I am fat because I ate too much junk food, drank too much free beer and was enjoying being lazy after working with horses.
I am now *thinks* 17 stone so 5 stone overweight. No probs it will go fast enough, just need gym time again
laugh.gif
Lucky that my body is kind to me, I take it off as fast as I put it on, R starts nursery "full time" in new year so will be down to 12/13 late spring early summer.

Long run, well I love ponies and would love to buy a large NF.ATM with weight I am, I wouldnt even think about it.

As for OP, I dont htink you are silly to ask, I think is sick that we live in a world where anyone over 10 stone is considered a fat slob!
Most women are paranoid about their weight most of them wrongly.
Me,long as I am fit I am happy.I go to the gym because I LOVE it not because I *should* be a certain size/weight.

Am I being completetly thick or did BB2's comment not include swearing?

C*** is one of the most offensive words IMO, NOT the same as big fat woman.
If the poster agres she's big, she's fat, and she's a awoman, where's the problem? Sure BB2 could have put it more lightly but she said what she thought and I thought this forum was FF? (fluff free). I love how people can go round insulting people personally on one thread and no-one says a word but Christ, comment on someone's weight and you;re shot down and called an ignorant c***.

Shame on you, if you were attempting to make yourself look the better party, you failed. You took the thread to an all time low.

I think the point is katy, the poster may think she is big and fat and a woman but what gives someone else the right to critisise her for it?

it can be very hurtful especially if someone has a hang up about their weight, same as say if you had a hang up about your nose and some said "shes got a massive honk".

Say she looks big on the pony by all means, and yes no need for the C word but Big Fat Woman really wasnt on!

I understand that, but surely better someone says what they truly think than be nicey nicey just for the sake of it? Sometimes you have to get to know they 'personalities' of different forum members, and IMHO I don't think BB2 was intentionally rude, just speaking her mind.

I still think she could have been more diplomatic though
shocked.gif

then that applies both ways ... Gin Gin was also just speaking her mind.... and actually, as a fattie i would rather be called what Gin said than what BB2 said!........ just my point of view though....LOL

umm, she posted a picture of herself on the pony and asked for people's opinions, it wasn't as if it was a remark out of the blue! yes, it could have been more tactfully said (and god, do i know about that now, after yesterday) but the fact is, if you ask for people's opinions, then brace yourself.
btw, i agree with BB about it. she is far too big and heavy for such a small pony. riding it for 5 minutes to sort it out maybe, fine. riding it for any longer = too heavy. simple.
and as for comments along the lines of "he's perfectly happy to carry me, he's got his ears pricked" etc etc... jeez, since when is a horse more capable of coming to a rational decision than a rider? we train them to put up with whatever we do to them, all their lives. this is why people can walk into fields and do despicable things to horses! this is why we hear of horses being beaten, we see pictures of rollkur... the horse is trained not to defend itself against people, whatever they do to it.
i get very upset about this because i knew a lovely young coloured pony years ago who his stupid stupid fat owner started riding full-time at 2 yrs old, resulting in a permanently dipped back - i.e. deformed spine. that particular pony had one chance at life and she wrecked it, the horrible stupid woman.

Yes kerelli but the owner of the 2 year old you knew was STUPID... not because of the fact she was fat, but despite it...the word fat doesnt need to be in that sentance.

All that needed to be said was i think you are too big for that pony... thats it.... big fat woman should never of been said. yes she posted pics to see if people thought she was to big for him... i actually think its quite difficult to see in that pic, but thats just my opinion. if i posted a pic of my and said "any crit welcome" i would be fractionately put out if someone said... "yeah your ears/nose/arse/ is massive"!!

I also think we vastly underestimate what horses can and cant carry just for day to day things, not talking 4*.... but again thats just my opinion.

ok, i could have been more diplomatic, but I'm not sure I wanted to be! If your that bothered about your weight then don't post pics of yourself looking huge on a little pony saying "he doesn't mind because we came 2nd!"
smirk.gif
I think it's quite ridiculous that I get called a c**t just for sticking up for some poor pony having lump 14 stone round.
mad.gif
My OH is 14 stone and at 6'3'' I wouldn't dream of putting him on a 13.3, welsh cob or not!

anima - THANK YOU! I knew I'd get some sense from a local lass!

but the woman asked for comments about her weight, and got them!

No she didn't!!! she said

[ QUOTE ]

There we go, second time today! That's a 13.3 Section D in his late teens carrying 14 stone. He's a bit grumpy XC (2'9 course) because he wants to catch the horse in front but I didn't want to overtake because I thought we were well to time - and we were second!

He is NOT the horse to take you round without complaining if he wasn't happy!

[/ QUOTE ]

She sounds like she thinks everything is hunky dorey to me!

[ QUOTE ]
Erm actually she didnt ask for any comments... just said she was whatever weight riding whatever pony, and she thought it was ok!

[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, so if I post a pic of me riding a shetland (which is capable of carrying about 7 stone) xc and say "he's happy an I think it's okay", people must agree just because I think that? No, I'd fully expect someone to say to me "why don't you ride something more suitable and get your fat arse off that poor pony".

The lady in question may have a pony which would be happy to carry her hacking but not XC! using the old "well, they were bred for farmers to use" is stupid in this instance. How many bloomin welsh farmers pop round a XC course on the way home from a day's work?
smirk.gif
. They were used LIGHTLY, to carry the men across the hills to and from work. If the ponies were carrying anything else the men didnt ride them because they respected them. XC is strenuous on legs and backs, without overloading the poor thing.

[ QUOTE ]
yes she posted pics to see if people thought she was to big for him...

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats what I was replying to.. The fact she thinks it ok makes it worse!!! So am I just supposed to think "ok that is totally wrong what she is doing, but I better not say anything because she might get upset because she might be paranoid about her weight"
smirk.gif

Sorry, but thats not me!

Sorry, but surely noone can seriously think that what BB2 wrote wasn't rude and unnecessary..flippin ek. Would you speak to someone like that in RL to their face?
I don't think the reply containing the C word was being said as a direct insult to BB2 but was written to explain how rude she was being!!!

No, I said I thought BB2 could have said what she wanted to say more diplomatically.

I'm not entirely sure if the C word reply wasa direct insult or an example. If it was the former, then no better than what they were complaining about, the latter, then no comparison. None of the words Big Fat and Lady are vulgar words used to describe a woman's nether regions.

[ QUOTE ]
I think it's rude that she rides that pony TBH.
smirk.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Well we know that and of course thats your opinion and your entitled to it. Just a shame you had to be so rude about it..
crazy.gif

so what's he supposed to do, speak polysyllabically in long sentences? his ears are back, that's a start. i'd call that the start of a complaint, i think. he's too good a boy to buck his rider off.
posting a picture of yourself riding a pony, in a thread titled "are we too fat for our horses" is asking for direct and honest criticism, imho. just because someone tells the truth as they see it, and doesn't say "ooh, you look fine, isn't he lovely and happy carrying you" they get called something unspeakable? i don't think so.

YES!
Very strict rule with me, if I wouldnt say somehting to a persons face STFU.
I also agree with BB2.
The pony may have got home in good time but it is hardly ideal for it,come on, surely no-one can think that a rider of that size riding a pony that small is doing the pony any favors????
I used to jump on the ponies to sort them out if they were being buggers in school for clients BUT back then I was about 9 stone(and very ribby, NOT going back there again) and it was under the watch of a very good YM.

Sorry, but the lady HAS to be about the same weight as me, and I would EXPECT someone to shout at me if I tried to do XC on that pony.
