Three men will appear in court tomorrow charged with unnecessary suffering to a piebald mare.

The mare, Maggie, had to be put down following the attack over which three men local to Essington, Wolverhampton.


On the morning of 13 April 2007 the 19-year-old piebald mare was found in her field bleeding heavily and with such severe wounds that she had to be put down.


Maggie's owner, Davina Bowyer, found her mare bleeding heavily with wounds to her back leg, her Achilles severed, one foreleg smashed above the knee and with cuts all over her body.


The attack — carried out with some kind of blade — led to locals raising a £1,500 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible. The attack took place overnight between 13-14 April, and three suspects were arrested on 27 April.


Three local men will appear tomorrow at Stafford Magistrates Court charged with unnecessary suffering to Maggie. The case is scheduled to start tomorrow and may run for three days.

Why are so many human beings so evil and vile? Please some one tell me because I cannot get my head around this.

I am crying for this poor defensless mare and because I am so bloody angry and fustrated.


I feel like screaming my head off.
 
I hope they rot too, but in this country they will probably get a small fine and banned from keeping animals - even tho this wasn't even their animal.

They will then go on to either do it again to some poor defenceless animal or move on to people.

Something really needs to be done about the easy ride animal abusers get in this country!
 
That makes me so so mad! How do you ever get over losing your horse in such a horendous way and all for what, for nothing! Scum of the earth.
 
Although I whole heartedly agree with all the sentiments above, I also feel the need to play devils advocate and say

Innocent until proven guilty

As has been said many many times on the JG threads. - particularly by the OP here.

Agree, when OP has been screaming on about what if JG is innocent, it seems hypocritical to make this judgement before these men are proven guilty or otherwise.

Whoever did it, this attack is deeply disturbing and I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments expressed as to what I'd like to happen to whoever did it. I can only imagine the horror that the owner must have gone through too.
