What do you (men) wear on your bottom half, when out hacking.
Is it Jodhpurs, Breeches, jeans or trousers?
Chaps and jod boots or riding boots?
I am a man. Just to let you know.

Just so you know, us women really don't mind what you wear, as long as they are tight, slinky and clean!! We could help you decide of course should you wish to model your choices? :)

This topic always brings out the drooling females;):D For casual denim jods (Splash) and long boots. formal Breeches and boots.

My OH wears jeans with full chaps and boots (Chelmsford dealer boots I think they are called) I love the full chaps and jeans look...

My OH wears jeans and short Ariat boots. He wouldn't ever, ever, ever wear a pair of Jodphurs. My friends OH who is totally unhorsey and has an alergy to horses regularly helps her poo pick in a pair of jods. We all laugh and think he must have a fetish!!

Actually, since the OP was hours ago, there's not been much of a reaction. Perhaps the excitement over this topic really has run its course. :)

No drool to speak of at all this time. :p

I wear Mark Todd Auckland Breeches along with jod boots and half chaps. I'm only a novice rider, not even strung two jumps together yet so I can't imagine I will be out hunting/competing any time soon!

I found the MT's to be the best fitting after trying a few brands on.
Don't have any shame. I found them much more comfortable than jeans and you are not ruining nice jeans when riding.

i wear Breeches with chaps and boots cannot ride in jeans as they are just a tad too restrictive and OH has banned me wearing the Jods i had as i was informed they showed a little too much cockage in her words

That was the first thing I checked when I tried mine on! Hence why I settled on breeches :D

my hubby wears breeches and his woof wear long boots when hacking/schooling and obv long boots for showing.....his a butch guy and don't half get some funny looks when out in "public" :)

Don't wear jods, wear breeches. Jods are all clingy round your man bits and it's really not necessary for us girls to see a 3D view of your danglies!

Its tracksuit bottoms for me,though Breeches for posh stuff. But whatever you wear ,the most important thing is clean servicable underwear because you never know when your horse will send you to A &E. Its bad enough having your trousers cut off of you but thats no excuse for shocking the nurses:eek::eek::D

I knew a rider back in the 1970s who on a cold day was wearing ladies tights under his jods. He came off, injuring his leg and breaking his jaw so was unable to speak. First thing they did in A&E was cut off his jods, which meant lying there in beige tights unable to speak and explain his attire. :o

jeans and a work boot type of yard boot... then again i dont know all that many males that ride but thats what i have seen them wearing... no idea how it can be comfortable though :o

I've wondered about men wearing jeans to ride too. Surely they can't be comfortable ? Are the baggy thigh old fashioned breeches still made. They look quite ..er manly :)

Hi,

We have a few gentlemen at our yard and their attire varies (mostly by age and err size).

The younger chaps (under 20) wear Jogging bottoms - and wellies (but dress up for shows)

The slightly older chaps (20 to 35ish approx) wear Jeans, breeches with full chaps for normal riding.

The older gentlemen usually wear breeches only.

I suppose with anything it depends on comfort/affordability and personal taste :D

Personally my vote is - breeches and long boots ....... :o

Haha! The thought of men in jods make me chuckle in a quite immature fashion, but tights as well, heavens!

I am trying to convince my BF to get riding, he has now witnessed just how lazy my horse is and is quite keen to have a go as he is not scared of her running away(so proud) but I'm really not sure what clothes to put him in, it might have to be chinos which will look rather 'Downton' :-D and he does have some work boots. He does have quite a rectangular head (I'm not TRYING to sound mean!) So hats may be interesting!

I generally wear Pikeur Breeches wih long leather boots for schooling & hacking. Pikeur cost more but last for years, so well well worth the price tag.

Have also worn jeans, jogging buttons and trainers and used to hack in shorts and flip flops (
in a really hot summer) - but sadly my totally bombproof horse has passed away so that riding attire will not be re-appearing!!

Where is best place to get mens breeches hubby likes to try them on first Bedford Northampton area, most shops don't have much choice.

I got mine some Rodney Powell breeches for Xmas which he loves and he wears them with Toggi Canyon style boots or his short boots and half chaps. He got fed up riding in jeans or my old Argentinian gaucho pants (a bit like loose breeches/chinos with short leg) as they weren't supportive enough and he kept trapping his boy bits as he's still learning ahem...

My OH also cycles so the clingiest jodhs are quite modest compared to cyclicing tights but the way to avoid the visible cockage is a nice long top and snug undies. This gives the support you need for comfort and avoiding nasty incidents whilst preserving modesty.
