well i took jack into a menage near us today and he was so tense and kept spooking and was not happy atall, all we did was walk round cos i new it would be asking to much to do anything else, will he get used to it if i go in a couple more times?, and how do you settle your horses in new surroundings?:confused:

If a menage is an indoor school (sorry, english is not my first language), your horse can get used to it in 3 or 4 times. First he needs to know what it is like to be indoors a big place (corridor of big stable for example). And in the indoor school you need lots of horses who are used to it to accompany him. make sure it does not rain the first 3 times, the noise on the roof is loud to a horse. Make sure he likes it in there.
Horses see more differences between black and white then we do. So going into a dark place like a hall makes them blind for much longer than is does for us. Give him some time when entering the place, be confident, show him around once and get his mind of the spooky things by putting him to light work.
If a menage is something else than I haven't written this!

My boy is a bit unsettled in a new place, teh second time a take him he is tons better. If he doesn't get better I will lunge him in it to relax him then I will get on him :)
