Hi

Has anyone any experience with broxton hall sand and fibre premix
I'm just having my 25x40 outdoor constructed by professionals and I'm leaning towards the more expensive sand and fibre premix and have been informed that they would get it from broxton hall gallops

Just wondering if anyone can give me any reviews on the premix if they have it down or ridden on it

Thanks any advise is greatly appreciated :)

Am not familiar with this - what exactly the fibre?

Our arena was recently completed with five layers in total, top two layers are sand, with a few tons of jazz (a very very fine cut plastic) as the final layer. Not too much in ratio, but enough to work with the sand. We are pleased with it.

We were also offered felt, horrid stuff, a nearby riding school has it mixed in with their sand. I can't see that it contributes much and it really looks horrible, all damp and grey squashed onto the sand or on other days dry with bits kicked up. Yuk.

But my main no no is rubber in arenas. So many overlook the fact that it continues to rot down (the sellers/arena constructors don't mention that bit). You just have to look at an old tyre that has gone soft, crumbly and gooey to see what the surface will turn into eventually. Have ridden on so many rubber arena surfaces with my poor grey boy, and he would often come out with black ankle socks. And the only way to get rid of the gloop is to have it all removed, no arena surface supplier I have spoken is willing to go through that subject (they can get quite defensive), and in my experience they either try to change the subject off who exactly would come out and remove it - and where would it be disposed to - or they just say top it up with fresh.

Not sure this has helped, hope it has a bit. :)

We have the surface from Broxton gallops. Its fabulous stuff. Our arena has been down for 3 years now, and is as good as the day it was put down.

So far its never ridden deep. It froze once when it was -5, but I don't ride when its that cold,so it was fine by me. Just make sure you have a good arena leveller to keep it in order, otherwise the fibre makes its way on top.

Thanks chipbutty for your reply

Is yours the premix ? Mixed before it's delivered

I don't think il be riding at -5 so hopefully it should be fine, my only worry is it riding deep and that's why I'm going to pay the extra and get the better stuff

I'm pleased you have given me your opinion on it as when I've searched it nothing comes up and no reviews it worried me a bit it's always the major companies.

Hi dappledown

Thanks for your comments and they have been taken on board, I'm definitely getting a sand and fibre premix and staying clear of the rest I've been researching and I'm definitely doing my homework seen as though I'm going to be living on beans on toast for the foreseeable at least il be enjoying my ride that's all that matters X

Yes, ours was the premix, its never ridden deep, I know a few others who have used it, and they've never had an issue with it being deep. Its a great springy surface
