So I am going to my first ever show in August at the grand age of 31 (only started riding a few years back) and need to get all the gear ready!

I have a show jacket that I managed to pick up on the cheap at Hickstead (£20 bargain!) and already have some black boots.

Next up is some Breeches and show shirt.

I would ideally like some breeches that don't hug to me too badly, I am not the thinnest of guys and not keen on the 'tight' look.

From the pics online, Mark Todd Auckland look quite nice - anyone got them?

Next is a show shirt, can you get a more t-shirt like shirt with the correct collar? Not really bringing up much on google when it comes to searching!

Thanks people!

Hi.
I use Neddys breeches that I got viaEbay
They are a nice fit, feel comfortable and are not like skin tight lycra.
I do use Mark Todd breeches and they look fine, but are nearlt twice the price of Neddys.
Shirt wise, I just use a short sleeved white shirt.
You can get bargains from Army/Navy stores as all mine are Police issue type.
Good luck at your first show.
Nice to see another bloke getting out there!

What a brilliant idea, and they reckon the girls always know where to get a bargain.

It's worth looking in places like Matalan and TK Maxx for shirts and ties too.

My jacket is Harris tweed and came from the local charity shop...for a POUND :D

I am not a man so this is not from personal experience fit wise! I am 99% sure that Mark Todd to show shirts are more T-shirt type. But agree go and look in Tk Max, Matalan or similar (or even a charity shop) for shirts.

Go and have a look on equestrian clearence for breeches or there is a eBay shop that has quite cheap MT breeches. I'll go look.

Found it...http://stores.ebay.co.uk/EQUINE-ESS...15QQ_sidZ958739785QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

Thats great thanks! Going to get some Mark Todd ones! Just out of interest, the mark todd summer shirt in that link is just like a polo shirt, as a complete shoe newbie, do I need a tie or something to go with that?

This is the one:

Yep you would indeed. But it can be whatever colour you like. White, red blue - whatever. Although most men do seem to wear white.
