I know this question has been asked before but I've never bothered looking because I didnt need to know about men's breeches, but now I do! OH is going to learn to ride and I need to get him some suitable breeches. He's worried about showing off his "assets" so I need some none figure hugging ones with plenty of pleats at the front please :)

They are the ones I thought might be good. I've not been to look at them in the tack shop but they look suitable in the photo I saw online and I like Mark Todd rugs etc as they are always good quality and fit well so, hopefully, the breeches will be the same. Why are men's breeches so much more expensive than women's though?

Another "delicate" question as well - what sort of undewear would be best? He usually wears boxers but they wouldn't give any support at all and I don't want him put off riding for life!!

Thanks ceiron. He's got some of those but he favours the cotton ones. I will explain that he'd be better wearing the tighter fitting ones - otherwise he will find out the hard way :D

I wear my Rodney Powells to death...but you cant buy them any more except on e-bay. Basically anything that is a good cotton/lycra mix. Caldene or Mountain Horse.
As for the delicate question of underwear I use cycling shorts or, if my lad is being a prat, a pair of American football padded under shorts

If he's learning, I wore a jockstrap to keep things out of the way for the first year, and when I started jumping. Not needed when he learns to sit properly on his seat bones. Gotta echo Mark Todds, they may be a bit more expensive but they last longer than any other make I've tried. (Didn't like the full seat version - a bit restrictive)

Doonrocket, I'm amazed to see you are in North Somerset. I thought I was the only gay in the vill...sorry, only male rider in the County :D

OP: As for undies; a nice tight / supportive pair of Y fronts are just the job. I'm not too keen on loose fitting breeches, I find it hard to sit well with loose breeches, I like Caldene and Equetech, they are very comfortable and fit nicely. I've not tried Mark Todd clothing, although I do have a couple of pairs of his boots, which I like.
