Hello,

I'm looking for some inspiration about new riding tops for men.

There don't seem to be any articles on this, so what do you like out there at the moment?

Cheers :-)

Why dont you wear what you like and what suits you? I try not to look like a muckheap too much so i wear polo T's in summer, and layer in winter with long sleeve tops, gillets ect. I'm quiet into riding in a checked shirt at the moment ... I think im getting more and more 'matchy' .. dare I use that word? Ergghhh I hate conforming but I do like looking smart when I ride. I usually only just smell like a muck heap then ;)

Google or look up men's sport tops on eBay, that's what I use, mesh running tops in summer and then layered in winter with a nice coat. As long as it has pockets for phone etc. And looks smart ish I'm happy I never buy any of the equestrian branded men's stuff as it's all so overpriced. Half zip running tops work well, also come in hi viz and are relatively cheap at £10-£15, they come in lots of colours too (I stick to hi biz, red or black)

Depends how horsey you want to get.
I would love a few spangly breeches, but I've been told womens don't fit a man very well.
Whitaker breeches fit well, though I've just been given a pair of HKM which feel supersoft and have press-stud pockets.

For tops, then Joules (avoiding anything that says "elephant polo").
The Gatcombe Park tops come up used sometimes and are pretty good quality.
Then there's Rydale - the bird logo ones rather than "Team GB".

Layer polos with a topical hoody with your yard name/horse, and a generic gilet or Rydale quilted jacket.
Wet weather then a long Rydale riding coat.

(Helps me being near a Rydale shop).

To balance this I also have a few band tshirts to counter the Capital Radio teenage afficinados.

Robinsons used to be good for men's jods. As for anything else, generic clothing or larger ladies wear!

Husband just wears a normal polo shirt or t-shirt to ride in during summer. In winter a thermal baselayer and a fleece. He used to wear ryedale deck shirts but has gone off them.

Try decathlon in the hiking/skiing/running sections for good technical tops and thermals.

Decathlon do decent breeches including some styles for men.

Hope Valley Saddlery and Equestrian Clearance both have stuff for men including ariat and Mark Todd. The Kramer catalogue has a better selection for Men than most places but haven't tried buying from them so can't comment on quality or service.
