Hi all

I wondered if you guys could give me some advice on men's jodhpurs - I'm after some that go down to the ankles (so not breeches) because I wear my trusty Ariat jodhpur boots/chaps (which I'd recommend to anyone).

Could you advise me on some nice ones to go for? I've looked at Caldene Cottonflex which look okay. Price no limit because I'd rather pay a bit more for ones that last than not very much for ones that might fall apart in two months.

There's so MUCH for women but so little for men! :-(

Many thanks

Juv

As pretty much the only male on the yard I do feel a responsibility to be the eye candy for the ladies! I'll take a look - thanks!

Hubby swears by Gorringe ones, not easy to find but last well and fit well. He hates breeches too.

Or the dublin saddlehuggers ones are always recommended as being a good everyday option by saddlers etc he doesn't like the fabric though.

Robinsons do an own brand pair that are cheap and hardwearing, they are called Robust I think. My sister and I have the ladies ones, and they last well and dry quickly, but hubby didn't find them a good fit. They are worth trying on though as if they fit well they are dirt cheap.

Equetech also have a fab range for men

I always drool over our eye candy on the yard as he lives in his equetech

I wear breaches with joddy boots and chaps and don't have a problem. Without chaps no, but once your chaps are on who can tell?

My preference for everyday are the Mark Todd ones, just bought some eurostar and they are great. I also like my Schumaker ones although a little pricy and small fitting.

You should also look at Mountain Horse.

Mark Todd were the only ones my OH would wear when he was still riding English-style - he wore breeches with jod boots and chaps. There's quite a few different MT ones - the most flattering and best ones for every day are the cavalry twills.

But now he only rides western so he is very happy in his Wrangler/Cinch/Resistol jeans ;)

This lady has made my jodphurs for the last 20 years, cheaper than off the rail and made to measure. also you can request belt loops and a bigger pocket etc.

And they last ages mum has some from 20 years ago!

I think this might be the same lady that made me a made to measure pair when I was about 14 and too tall for kids sizes and too thin for ladies. I've been trying to find her details ever since as they were brilliant quality and fitted beautifully!

Mine don't fit any more (although they are still in good shape) but my sister is still wearing the pair she had made about 15 years later!

There can't be two ladies making made to measure jodhs in coventry surely????

I'm so excited! I'm going to buy some new jodhs!

Noooooo! Men in jods *shudder*..... How about a nice pair of jeans instead? Hide in the lorry when you have jods on until you get on your horse or cover up with a blanket. Yikes *starts to sweat*.

;)

Funny you should say that, we were talking about a chap wearing women's jodhs on the yard the other week. Poor guy was mocked mercilessly - I don't think it was you though pedantic, wearing ladies jodhs must be more common than you'd think!
