Recommendations please.... not TOO expensive, not necessarily "proper" riding boots but need to be more riding styled than country boots. For all year round use and leather. Size 10. Any particular recommendations please?

Ooh... I should probably have done a search before I asked.... will go and do that now... but in the meantime... ? :o

My OH is on his second pair of Mountain Horse High Rider II boots and is happy with them. They are good everyday boots, hardwearing and robust, comfy and warm but also smart enough that you can wear them to low level competitions. They lasted pretty well and I think he will probably stick with them in future.

He has a pair of Regent boots for best but they are quite pricey.

Mountain horse make decent short boots too if he would prefer something to wear with chaps. They also do things like insulated boots for winter etc.

Ariat boots come in mens sizes and are lovely but a price bracket higher.

If you are looking for something a bit cheaper than MH try dublin or shires.

The problem my OH has, is that no tack shops (and we live in a very horsey area!) stock any decent variety of menswear or mens footwear. If we're lucky one of the larger shops will have one token pair of long boots in a size 10, but that's usually about it.

He's very fussy with footwear, and because he's never been able to try on the different brands he's interested in he still curently wears short boots (Ariat) and gaiters (Tredstep), which to be honest do look smart.

I just bought my son a second-hand pair of mens Mountain Horse High Rider boots on eBay. Size 8, and an absolute bargain. Lightly worn in and in perfect nic.

I really like my Mountain Horse long boots - I've the Rimfrost Rider and High Rider ones. Love both, they're very comfortable and I think they look plenty smart enough. Would recommend highly.

If he likes his ariats why not try some men's ariat bromonts. They're really good, waterproof and if you get the non insulated ones they can be worn all year round.

I'm considering the Mark Todd fleece lined winter boots for my OH's birthday.

The look a nice shape - and not too shiny. Reasonable price too £89.99.

My problem is getting any size 11.:(

No one seems to have any bigger than 10.5.

Hello!

Personnaly I can't reccomend R.M Williams boots highly enough. I have been wearing them for 10 + years, all day, every day. I first came across them while working in New South Wales, where they were worn by everyone on the ranches. Yes, they are considerably more expensive than other boots, but they are far more comfortable than anyone elses. Also, if you divide the cost over how much longer they will last, they are almost always cheaper than buying multiple pairs of poorer quality.
