Merc 410 - good or bad as boxes?

Dear all

In the ongoing uncertain quest for transport, I have found a Mercedes 410D which seems a nice box, has an electric ramp and has the huge advantage of being rated at 4.5 tonnes which means I might actually be able to take 2 horses without going over limit. I can't fit anything bigger than 14.2 in there, but then I don't own anything bigger than 14.2, so that's not too much of an issue.

so - anyone got any experience of them as small pony boxes, good or bad?

Not know of anyone with them as horseboxes, but as vans in general they are very reliable, not the fastest but then thats not going to be a problem for you. Is it coachbuilt or a conversion, because the springs can sometimes be little soft on them.

coachbuilt, I believe, but haven't been to see it yet - am awaiting more photos.

get it weighed unladen first as they sometimes have a very small payload (weight you can put in it before it goes over weight) Idealy with a box you want around a 2 tonne payload but if your only takeing little ponies you can get away with 1.5 tonnes.
