(have posted this as a reply but it's a few pages back now so thought id do a newone too)
Hi, thanks for all the replies and sorry i didn't reply sooner but i obviously haven't been in! Have been checking him every 5 hours or so, actually quite bright this morning which is obviuosly great but don't want to get our hopes up. He was quite bad last night about 11ish, breathing was quite bad, but he had actually been lay down (was straw on his side) for the first time to my knowledge and think we desturbed him and had worn himself out getting up! Moms going up in an hour or so as i had to show my face at work and as long as all still well will turn him out for a few hours, told vet he was getting peeved at being in (not used to it) so he said just chuck him out in the day then. Went and bought him a rug yesterday but is supposed to be ok today and he was really warm this morning! Also bought him extra feed, supplement and a horse lick to try and give him a boost.
I know horses can live fine with heart murmurs but this is bad, you can hear it without a stethescope, and is def a leaky valve. He's had his head down all the time as not enough blood getting to the brain, but actually had it a bit higher this morn. Vet was baffled as to why it has just aperaed from no where! I know he may have always had a mild one and something could have triggered it but he has never shown any signs of it before. Vet asked if he is quiter than the rest but he really isn't at all!! Really really isn't, infact i left all of them flying around the field on Sunday night! He said this is really bad and if he does pull through he'll never be the same. Not being able to use him is not an issue at all, he can live his life keeping my others company but i have to be realistic about his quality of life, but vet also said we are looking at weeks of recovery so theres time yet.
Sods law too the injection sight had swollen but vet said dairnt inject in the vein as it might kill him.
He's not a section A (as someone asked) hes a dartmoor hill pony, and i rescued him which makes it even worse!
But anyway it is def a wait and see situation and i shall keep you all posted! Thanks again for the replies!
