I'm going too, will be doing discovery and possibly the 1.05m.
I'll be on dark bay mare and also in gold lorry. Horsey will be shying at cars and other horses
What is Merrist Wood like as a venue? The arena, the warm-up? I'm based in Kent so would be interested to hear how it compares to venues like Duckhurst and Longwood, or any comments generally.
Kelly 1982 - How long does it take to get there?
Also, a bit cheeky I know seeing as this is a BSJA post, but any comments on the XC course? Looking to BE there next season.
Ah just so you guys can recognise me im KAyleigh Nicholls and my horse is Gloster Image(aka rocky) he'll be wearing burgandy lol and my horse is bay with a star and white socks *see siggy*
I would say it takes roughly an hour to get there, i have never been up there in a horse box though.
My friend lives about 20mins further than MW and it takes me an hour to get to her by car.
MW have got a really nice outdoor warm up area, its a lovely big rubber paddock so plenty of room and good surface. Indoors is MASSIVE but they only tend to use half the school for SJ as its so big.
I have only watched dressage there breifly and never SJed there but it does seem a lot nicer than Duckhurst or Longwood.
Lorry park can be a little interesting as there doesn't seem to be any structure and people tend to park anywhere/ everywhere and the warm up can be a little chaotic. But both outdoor warm up and indoor surfaces ride really nicely ands its always clean and tidy. I would be interested on peoples views on the CR/ BN as I havnt jumped BSJA there before and am planning on going to do the BN on 02/ 12.
ss1- I havnt done a BE over it but did mini badminton a few years back not long after the re did the xc course and it rode really nicely- its relatively flat and doesnt pose too many questions. Its well maintained too so the going is normally good. I might even have a bash at the Intro in June!!!
The NoseBag do the catering so there is always a nice Chicken Burger on offer too
