Please everyone have a virtual drink on me today. I am spending the holidays alone but actually
don't mind, however to all those to are alone but wish they weren't best wishes and at least you get the remote for the telly!

I'm not alone, thank goodness, I have my lovely hubby by my side, but I did watch my dad breathe his last at 2.45 this morning.
Thoughts to all of those for whom Christmas is a bit underwhelming this year xx

So sorry to hear your sad news have a drink for your dad and be kind to yourself xx

I'll have a drink on you alma ;). The TV does seem to be a bit dire unfortunately - and I have suggested mum alters her skyping time until after Toystory! I have some nice grub but haven't decided whether to have late lunch or wait until supper yet. It's odd not planning things.

Had a nice hack this morning though :) and seeing friends/family back home at the weekend when I can dump the pony on someone else more easily.

Aw! I have been there. He/she doesn't deserve you in that case. Hugs.

Totally agree.

Thanks, it's always sucky when you're not the one to end it. Not as bad a day as Alliersv1 though, huge hugs

Hugs back to you. Suckiness is relative (no pun intended). It doesn't matter what makes you sad on Christmas day, or any other day for that matter. If it's important to you, then it sucks.

Thanks everyone for your kindness. I know I don't post here that much but I appreciate it.

I hope everyone is either having the BEST time, or managing to make the best of whatever life had thrown at them today. :)

You know you've hit rock bottom when James Blunt's on the telly and you can't even be bothered to press mute!

Sorry alma. Cross posted. Thinking of you. Must be very hard.

It's okay to be whatever you are at Christmas. There is so much pressure to be "happy" and "with people" but it's also okay - and normal! - to miss the people who are not with you, for whatever reason. Just do what you need to do to give yourself some peace today.

Whatever else may be said on this forum, whatever reputation it has, however many arguments there are, when it's needed everyone on here is absolutely lovely
