Has anyone experienced this in their horses? My lad is on it for stress lammi brought on by having either an infection or virus. His sheath has swelled up over the last few days.
It maybe just lack of moving about that's caused it. He's on day 6 of box rest.

I never knew you could use Metacam for horses, you learn something new everyday! When my dog had it for a broken foot he totally lost his appetite but other than that was ok

Can anyone afford it for a horse !!
My daughters whippet had it for a broken toe. Cost a fortune for a dog, I dread to think of the dose for a horse.

Used Metacam Canine on my dogs for last 3 years of her life and the only possible side effects were kidney and liver dysfunction so needed six monthly blood tests to check.

Used Metacam Equine on horse for a shoulder soft tissue injury but only short term.

Never heard of the side effect you've mentioned. As far as I am aware it's not a side effect mentioned in any of the blurb. I'd speak to your vet pronto if I were you.

As to the person who mentioned the price. In my book animal health doesn't have a price and not really a helpful comment to OP

I've also used metacam equine for a soft tissue shoulder injury, think the course was for about a week and didn't notice any side effects. Swelling however is often caused by not being able to move around due to box rest and is not unusual, do keep an eye on it though!

The vets did that with me on my dog told me it was suppose to last 14 days and it only lasted 6 days (he was 40kg) Not helpful! Hope your lads swelling is ok x
