I've decided that I would like a tick/tock type sound as I ride.

The baby horse really struggles with his rhythm in the school, particularly, less so out hacking.

Because of this, I struggle to make my rises rhythmical to help him- never managed to be very helpful in this area!

I thought that a metronome that I could play from my phone/ipod out loud would help us to be more balanced and in tune with each other.

Anyone got any good suggestions?

Well, it's not exactly a metronome, but rhythm beads do make it nice and easy to hear what your horse's feet are doing timing-wise. H has a set that I get out every so often that we got made-to-measure fairly inexpensively.

Good idea. You have two choices - stick a radio on the side and play appropriate music or for getting beats to minute ready for dressage to music I use the MetroTimer app - its free on line and works for me.

I have an app on my phone, and use it while I school. It is called Metronome Beats, and is easy to use. Not sure of it was free or not, but I have used it for years and it would not have been more than £5 as I am tight!
