Michael Jung

When we arrived at Blair on Sat. we saw someone "walking" the XC on a segway, think that was Micheal.

Watched him ride XC and he is just so balanced, he lets the horse jump without any hindrance from him. Not really that surprised his ankle was broken, he looked to be in quite a bit of pain at Burghley, but he must be very tough to just get on with it all week.

He really is an fantastic rider. Watched him and Blair and it he just stood out by a mile, fully deserved those wins ! can't believe he did it with a broken leg too, I fractured my toe a couple of weeks ago and I was feeling very sorry for myself :o think I need to toughen up.

Meanwhile in football Jack Wilshere is off games until Christmas with a stress fracture

No professional footballer would play (or be allowed to play) on a stress fracture, it would be inviting serious injury.

I believe Jung had a bone chip operated on, rather than a broken leg? Not that I'm taking away from the achievement, he is quite obviously superhuman!

Having competed with a broken ankle I can tell you now that it is excruciatingly painful! And I was only doing dressage.

Hats off to him, no way on earth I could have done an XC course let alone burghley or Blair!

I want to know how he fitted his boots on lol was it not swollen?
Big respect to him, he's the Charlotte and valegro of the eventing world IMO

With mine I used a pair of jod boots that were slit up the back, slid my foot in and then duct taped them back together, pair of gaitors over the top and you couldn't tell.
I've also done a dressage test with a cast on my wrist. A forgiving jacket and generous pair of gloves hid that one! Just a good thing that the pony in question could have been ridden with a piece of cottonin his mouth

As we say where I come from, he must be well hard like! :D The man is unbelieveable.

I think you might be the amateur equivalent of MJ! Commitment to the cause of competing there, conniegirl!

I have a very high pain tolerance and a very long suffering mother who does her best to stop me doing silly things like that but when she can't stop me she gets my horse ready to minimise the damage I do to myself.

The one time I didn't have her at a show I fell down the steps of the lorry and smacked my elbow, ignored the rather severe pain and got on my rather explosive pony, who promptly decided to try and turn himself inside out, it was so painful that At that stage I gave up on the show, loaded pony back on the lorry and drove 2.5hrs home. When I got home my mum took one look at my arm and drove me straight to hospital, I'd fractured my elbow!

The ankle injury in the post above was caused by me falling off my heels on a night out a week before the show (major show I had been looking forwards too all year) and the wrist was caused by the mad Arab I had drilling me into the floor a few days before the national schools champs where I was captain of our team and we were already on minimum numbers due to horse injuries
