Michael Peace

Judging from Etienne's post (and previous posts on this subject), he has at least one dissatisfied customer. I, for one, would love to hear what happened!

I stink of nothing but roses! I'm just intrigued why this poster only posts on the subject of Michael Peace, and always a similar post!

Yes, very curious. She does seem pre occupied with it. Wonder if its from personal experience or chinese whispers ?

You can't please all the people, all the time.

The man does indeed have a rare talent - unsurpassed, many would say. (So good, in fact, that he probably gets results from horses that are in chronic pain). BUT he is not God, he is a human being with all the accompanying foibles, including a huge ego. (He would probably rather be earning his money as an international rock star).

Don't ask too many questions, or he will get irritated (he will tell you only what he thinks you need to know). Understand that your horse will be in a very controlled environment, with no turnout whatsoever, and a hay-only diet (fair enough), and won't necessarily get ridden every day. Bear in mind that your horse will be totally in thrall to Michael, which will be a very hard act to follow.

I think MP would have made a great rock star as he can sing as well as he can ride. Horse jobs and late night gigs, never go well together. In racing he was often going to work as bands were on there way home. I don’t think he has a huge ego as you need to be humble to be good with horses. He loves to answer any questions about horses and likes the challenge to get people to see their horses in a different way. Children can be more honest about this as one said ‘I hate my pony and after a visit and understanding what had gone on, said she loved her pony again and a big Thank you’.
Once a year someone comes along who has a friend (usually unqualified but very opinionated) who has schooled the horse to a point where they can’t go on, after getting a saddle and doing all the vet checks and still having problems it is hard to see the schooling as the problem. This can be made worse for them when MP comes along and the horse goes well. You might think at this point everyone would be happy. I think many chronic pain issues come from the way some tense horses are started and schooled or get put in draw reins. The Copenhagen vet school wanted to study MP as they could not work out what he did at demo years ago, but they said ‘he should be honoured to be asked so would not pay for his flight or time’. He just thanked them for the honour of being asked.
All the horses that come to stay are treated as individuals some will get turn out, all get free time in the school, but it is a mental development like sending children of too boarding school. They learn to relax and have a good work ethic some may have 2/3 short sessions each day or a long one and then a rest. Each day depends on each horse so there is no routine but they learn to think rationally and accept the work it is in their interest. Once the horses relax and enjoy their school work it is easy to send them home with a positive attitude to their work. Most riders will come and have a few lessons before the horse leaves, so both horse and rider are happy and all questions answered. MP will tell you everything but most only hear what they need, depending on if they are ready to learn more or just happy to move on.

I have met Michael a couple of times, once at a book signing and once when he came to our local community radio station to be interviewed. As soon as I have some spare money (hahahahahaha) I will be booking him to come and sort out my horse's clipping issues.

He came to a yard I was on about 6 years ago to a mare that was being akward, the girl couldn't get the horse out the corner of the yard, he got on and did it in about 20 seconds, amazing, I have used his stuff with success after watching his DVD, a good guy, gets my vote.

i like what i've seen of how he gets things out of the horses. i only wish i could afford him as i have a bolshy pony that argues everything with me, doesn't like being told no! lol

unfortunately i can't afford for MP to educate my pony (and me) so i have to stick with reading his articles.

If you watch youtube he never say's 'No' he just directs on a zero tolerance
therefore not getting the unwanted behaviour to start with. Working towards 50/50 and getting 100% attention. Good Luck.
