Went to get him in from the paddock this morning. He didn't want to move.

(Normally he always comes over to me!) He eventually started walking towards me and his movement was very strange. I immediately trotted him up to find lameness on near hind. Cannon bone and up to hock very swollen.

No heat in the foot or below cannon (He has a slight nick on fetlock that has been there some days).
Called the vet who thinks it is either an infection (although she doesn't think there are any obvious cuts or scrathes including the one on feltock that could have led to this) or perhaps something to do with tendons/ligaments.
For now he's had painkillers and antibiotics. Will continue on those and on box rest. In a day or so he is going to be going LOOPY - He is not the sort of horse that likes being a prisoner!
He's looking very sorry for himself and can hardly move at walk now.

Thankyou. I am going to call them on Friday (If he hasn't escaped from his cell and run down to them first!)

Hopefully I may see some improvement before then. He's a funny horse, he always gets soppy when he is ill, and he is not like that at all in real life!!
