Has anyone who has tried a micklem bridle found that their horse has developed a sore on its chin near the mouth. Having come out of a flash nose band type traditional bridle and started using a micklem I have done the nose band up. as I would have previously and the sore has been the result.

Genuine apologies if I'm preaching to the choir.. but have you fitted the bridle according to the specific instructions for it? The Micklems should be fitted differently to a normal snaffle bridle. The nose section sits higher than a cavasson and so the chin strap could sit differently. It should be fitted flush to the skin and allow the horse to open its mouth a little a comfortably move its jaw (as I understand it). Lots of good descriptions and photos on their website.
Have used these on my two quite different boys, with no rubs. But I believe some horses love them and some don't.
Good luck :)
