My horse can be a little inconsistent in the contact and unwilling to take a contact on the right rein, I've thought about getting a micklem in the hope that it may stabilise the contact a little? In an ideal world I'd love to try the Fairfax drop on him but at those prices it is out of the question! Are there any other possibilities that are worth looking into? I've seen the PS of Sweden but not sure if they're BD legal?

I've tried Micklems and had no effect on any of mine - but I have a colleague who has seen significant improvement in one of hers - although not the others. You can hire a micklem for up to 30 days which is well worth doing. They are too expensive for a bit of kit which might not work!

I love my Micklem and horse has been happier in it but I have just bought the PS Pioneer, very similar, but much nicer. I only tried it for the first time today. I was told they are legal but saw that they are not, if you use the elastic cradle.

If you're just trying to stabilise the bit then a hanging cheek, drop noseband combination on any bridle will usually do the trick. If you're after an atomic bridle I really like the one from EcoRider, which is a little cheaper than the micklem. My horse does very much like his micklem, but he never really had contact issues before and he does have a sensitive facial area
