Has anyone tried a Micklem for a headshaker? The first signs are just appearing (as they do every spring) and he already has his nose net on. Was wondering about this?

I bought one for mine, used with the nosenet although the net required a little modifying, I am not sure it actually helps with the headshaking itself but it does enable me to keep a better contact so from that point it does seem to work.

I watched this once when I took gave my micklem for someone with a head shaking horse to try ,it was literally a magic bullet the stopped head shaking instantly .
It's certainly worth a try .

If its a true headshaker it will make no difference! So if it is save your money or try one first.

Defiantly try first .
However the horse I saw was diagnosed as a true head shaker it's a smart dressage horse and I astonished my trainer was not she's seen it work before .

My experience of the Micklem sizing, see if you can borrow one because the back strap round the jaw is quite short. I have a 16hh ID with quite a chunky head. I bought the largest size and the cheek pieces are on the top holes, it does fit just. My boy loves it and goes much more quietly with a more consistent contact.
Today I entered a working hunter class with a different bridle because I wasnt sure how the judge would view it, big mistake, head tossing and tension. Still managed to go clear and come third!

have a true headshaker and it does work, I think it depends why they are headshaking, his is a trimegial nerve problem and the micklem avoids it. i use a nosenet as well in dusty weather.
