I'm just wondering if anyone has used one/has any recommendations?
Since Frank got poorly a couple of years ago it's been a balancing act but I can't get him right at the moment, and I'd like him to have free access to food. However, Stanley is like a little round ball and way too fat, even though he gets teeny tiny portions, but I can't not feed him when I feed Frank too. But they're very very spendy so before I raid the piggy bank I thought I ought to see if anyone had used them succesfully.

I had the Sure microchip cat feeder for my lot but the only one who used it was Sebastian. The girls were terrified of the noise it made opening and would rather starve than go anywhere near it. It was nowhere near as good as the cat flaps they make and although the concept is good it needed a lot more R&D to make it more cat friendly so I wouldn’t recommend it.

I have the microchip cat flap, which stopped working after ten months, and now has the lock taped down. I also have a double feeder that has locking lids on a timer. That is good, opens when it should, and opens quietly. Possibly not much use if it is only meant for Frank.....

Random thought but a lot of people repurpose small IKEA cupboards by putting a catflap on and then hiding a litter tray in there to stop the dog eating the poo etc. If you used a microchip catflap you could probably do the same for hiding a Frank exclusive food bowl (& probably less frustrating for Stanley as he won’t be able to easily witness the extra portions going on). You could achieve the same by putting one in the door of a room that you then leave closed (if you have an understairs cupboard that might work?) creating a whole Frank suite if you want to really spoil him 😂
