Ok, so got new boys chip number today. Only problem is don't know where he's registered/who its by?
Its not weatherby's, so anyone any idea?
it starts off 98510000

mine are with pet log i think??? the paperwork for them is in the safe at my parents - when i call around i will try and get the contact details for you

or identichip

petlog will tell you if it is their chip or another firms and tell you which one it is and their phone number
 
I would not waste any more time on it.

Get your horse freezemarked and micro-chipped again over here.

If you are worried about your horse being recovered/found after it is stolen then get it freezemarked on it's shoulder as this visible.
 
i emailed identichip when i was looking for who my horses chip was registered with

they emailed back quickly saying it was and told me when it was registerd and who sire and dam were

TSH - I would still ring Pet Log or Identichip, they will tell you which country the chip originates from. I say this because you said you just found out 9851.... is from Italy but I's sure 9851 is an English number because I bought a horse with dutch papers and then one day had the vet check the chip just because he was out looking at another horses chip I found she had a 9851 chip and not the 5282 dutch chip on the papers I was given. When I rang up they told me it was an english chip and no details had been logged for it.
 
Ok, so have discovered the chip is italian. (none ever sold in uk.ireland) which means he came from there potentially?
Company that made them is now sold, have contact number for people who it was sold to, but they directed me to the italian people so its a bit of a roundabout. Anyway, it seems no info would be on their chips, i.e they didn't have passports with them.
So a dead end, but that's fine. We'll apply for a non-tb weatherbys and get to pick our own name!
