my pony is mircochipped - twice!! one had to be voided. and i know they have a special freeze mark to show that a horse is microchipped. its like an upsidedown horseshoe with 2 lines at the top. wld this be the best freezemark to have put on my pony? has anyone else had it done?

I had both my boys at the weekend they are both already microchipped i decided to get them done with a standard mark as this is an instant number that can just be read out to farmkey and the owners traced rather than then having to get the chip scanned.

just thought it wld save having to keep two companies uptodate with owner info if the freeze mark showed they were microchipped. i was thinking of marking my rugs with the symbol as well

If you are serious about protecting the horse then just have the standard freezemark, you then don't need to keep up to date on the chip - it should be on your passport anyway if anybody really wanted to check.

Not everybody understands the micromark, or would notice it. You could then stencil your freezemark onto the rugs and ANYBODY seeing them in the field will know the horse is marked

THe trouble is with microchipping is that they migrate around the horse and stop working. So having a freezebrand to say there is a micro chip inside is a complete waste of time. If a vet sees that they may scan - but if they find nothing they have nowhere to go. With a freezebrand you can phone Farmkey or Freezemark and ask. It is a permanent solution - do it once.
