Microchipping ( also in Breeding )

When having a foal microchipped do the vets give them a quick health check or do they just put the microchip in?

When we had some ponies chipped a couple of months ago the lady just put the chip in and checked it could be read properly. We had someone from PetID do ours not the vet which might make a difference so not really much help was I

They should always check heart, just to make sure everything ticking fine. I ask the vet to do a little "vet check" when chipping as it's a good opportunity. We always use a little local anesthetic for babies as well and they never notice it go in./
