I've been feeding my standie 1.5 mugs a day for weight gain, and it seems to be working but I wonder, how much do I need to feed my others? I've read conflicting things from an eggcup to a mug for general gut/hoof health, and have no idea what I should be trying?

We have a new standardbred, 7yrs old in light ridden work, half hour per day flatwork at the minute. His weight is fine but we'd like him to go barefoot. He's just on grassnuts at the moment.

Also have a 7yr old section A, with good strong feet which grow like wildfire.

The last one is a 9.2hh laminitic shetland with very brittle feet (no lammy in a long time since we introduced mag ox and agnus castus to her diet). Both the ponies are on poor grazing and are fed dengie hifi unmolassed twice a day with a small handful of grassnuts, and will be on a small haynet each at night as of today.

So, as there's nothing wrong with their weights, and I'm feeding purely for feet/gut/condition, how much do you recommend?

Some folks say an eggcup, others say a mug. There's a very big difference so I have no idea what I should be giving them? Any suggestions?

I give half a mug to a mug depending on whether I want condition or a little weight gain. I have a spoonful myself on my cereal so I don't think an egg cupful would go far with a horse.

I mix micronised linseed 2 parts to 1 part brewers yeast and give my two small ponies about half a mug full each

I feed my Thoroughbred 1 mug full each feed in winter and I feed myself 2 tablespoons each day with my cornflakes. Both of us have shiny hair!!
