Has anyone experience micronised linseed sending their horse crazy?! I got some to try to put some weight on my horse , however since being on it he has really changed and become difficult to ride and very spooky. I thought it was non heating so thought it would be a good thing to try?!
Anyone else experienced this?
He is also fed molasses free hifi and fibre nuts (low sugar/starch) so cant imagine it being Anthony other than the linseed?!

I haven't had problems with micronised linseed. Is he eating a lot of grass at the moment? That seems to be sending some horses a bit loopy at the moment.

Technically it shouldn’t be but it sent my dressage horse completely mental, as did most forms of hard feed!

Yup! I feed it to my retired draft to keep weight on over winter. Too much and I have prancing Ardennes who blats off through the field gate thinking he's a racehorse. About 1/2 cup am and pm is his max before the snorting silliness turns up.

I now feed copra alongside it so we can keep the weight up without me skating behind him on the end of a leadrope.

Just written pretty much the same thread! Put my 11yo ish on about a cap full of linseed oil and he’s been a bit ‘boingy’ ever since, took him on a fun ride today and he was not his usually chilled out self! That’s the only thing I can think of that’s changed so going to take him off it and see if he changes back!

Yup. The latest food my appyx turns out to be sensitive to is linseed. Went mad, reared and stoved in the front of my hat with his hoof!

So far, this makes alfalfa, oats and linseed.

Fine on veg oil and bran, thankfully, because he needs some calories.
