Micronised Linseed - How much can I feed to my good-doer?

As title. My pony is getting quite stiff in his back legs. My vet thinks it is probably arthritis but I'm keen to avoid injecting joints if I can and looking for supplements to help him. I don't want to feed glucosamine and he is already having turmeric which I think is helping but he is still stiff. At the moment I'm feeding him 100g of micronised linseed a day but I've recently read that he needs 5 times that to be effective as a joint supplement (he weighs around 500 kg). I'm a bit worried that will make him pile on the pounds and as we are always watching his weight I'd rather avoid this. So, am I right in thinking linseed isn't effective as a joint supplement unless fed at this rate and if so is he likely to expand? If so what else can I give him to compliment the diet he has already which is:-

Fast Fibre
Honey Chop Chopped Oat Straw (Unmolassed)
Forage Plus Hoof Balancer + Vit E
Micronised Linseed
Turmeric
MSM
Yea Sacc

Any advice appreciated, thank you.

Should just add, he had his shoes off around 4 months ago and is doing fine now but was sore on his front feet to start with (possibly putting more weight on the back?) and also is stiffer now due to less turn-out.

I give Fab a big cupfull of linseed. He's a fairly good doer and just has that mixed with a weeny handful of chaff and really watered down beet as he doesn't particularly need a dinner! He's fine with a big cup of it though and doesn't pile the pounds on. :)

Have never heard of needing to feed 500gms to get joint benefits. Where did you read that?

I feed about 300gms to my 17hh horse who lives out.

I'm giving my good doer a mug full a day. Not sure how much it weighs. I didn't know you had to feed so much for joint benefits.

I feed my good doer between 100- 200g (he is 15hh).

With my mare who has arthiritis, I found magnetic stables boots made a huge difference! Her joint supplement ran out at the point I started using magnetic boots (I had been using ordinary stable boots before) and she was so much less stiff and supple with no lameness at all.

A few places are doing the equilibrium ones for half price atm if you are interested (£32 down from £64)
I have found that making sure I do lots of suppling exercises and a fair bit of schooling helps stop the stiffness as well.

Thanks for that, I might look into them. I think I'm only having problems at the moment because I'm limited with the amount of work I can do with him (he was lame when he had his shoes off so I'm just bringing him back into work slowly) and the lack of turnout because of the weather.
