Hey so I've been using Micronised linseed meal on my TB for just over a month, he's looking well on it too! I've just ordered some more from a different company but has same label etc just different weight .. he hadn't had any for 3 days as I run out while waiting for it to come.. hes been back on it now for 2 days and today I couldn't ride him at all he has been really calm and lovely to ride then today he's been on his toes bucking and leaping when asking to canter which he never does.. do you think its the linseed of something else a livery said the spring grass is coming through? I'm probably reading too much into it but would like any thoughts?
Thank you

Linseed is high energy but it's slow release as the energy comes from the oil, but it could theoretically lead to excitable behaviour as more energy is provided.
Is your horse normally silly this time of year? If he's not, then it could be the linseed, but if he is , then it's probably just the time of year.

Semi-retired Old Horse has been on micronised linseed for years: he's always been a tad "jolly".
Our spring grass has been coming through with a vengeance.
Old Horse and his mates are out at sparrow **** and come in nine hours later, unless required by farrier or vet.
Old Horse and his mates are currently behaving as if they've just taken a delivery of Columbian hiking accessories . . .

Spring grass I suspect.

Incidentally: Many years ago I used to boil up linseed at home for my pony. My brothers charmingly called it “afterbirth” because of the way it glooped out of the pan in one gelatinous lump. I don’t think the micronised stuff was available then.
